Unexpected recommendation from insulation installer, thoughts?

Thanks for all the responses. Wizard, I have storage trusses and OSB laid down as a floor, and will be putting up a metal ceiling before they insulate. He is talking about blowing in between the ceiling and storage area floor where he is limited in depth by the 2x6 bottom cord of the truss. I...

Unexpected recommendation from insulation installer, thoughts?

good to know, the company did offer R21 fiberglass under the storage area floor, I am jut wondering if its enough insulation @ R19 (or 21) because the storage area is 1/3 of the ceiling area. Or if the blown in under the floor would be better due to complete fill, or worse because it could...

After much research, Open vs closed cell foam

From your link it appears I will be fine/ dont require one....??? And the ceiling will be metal, walls drywalled.. ignition barrier? Because it already has an air space behind it, vinyl siding does not require a rainscreen installation unless it is installed on top of rigid foam that is more...

After much research, Open vs closed cell foam

Interesting, I have not seen that argument brought up before, but it makes sense. But running a vapor barrier would not trap the moisture in the open cell foam?

After much research, Open vs closed cell foam

That was kind of my point, I have room for the thickness with my 2x6 walls, so does it make sense to pay for the closed cell.... thank you both for the replies!

After much research, Open vs closed cell foam

In my new 30 x 48 garage I need to insulate, and I am in the old debate Open vs closed and I was all set to go closed cell, but wonder if the benifits are really realized in my application. I dont mind spending money for a tangable benifit, but I have been told more than once that open cell...

It ended up being worth it, as the bad throwout bearing started the chain of events that ended with the whole crew in the VIP area with free food and open bar with Freiburger at the Dells show. Thanks to a couple friends and 2 long days, the facia and soffits are installed... It was...

Oh, and the sheet metal for the ceiling is in 3'x24 panels, so I should only need 1 seam, hopefully its not too rough to put up such big panels. I have a drywall lift.

Mounting T5 lights to metal ceiling

prefect, thats what I was hoping would work. Popping some screws into the trusses and a 1" hole in the metal will make that job cake!
