Here was my Response to the Flat Rate Master's Video about Misleading Technician Ads. Tell me what you think.

Haha! I worked with some dudes at the mill like that. They'd grab every extra shift they could. Better to be smokin' (cigarettes) and jokin' with the boys and making some $$ than to be at home with a crabby wife. Sad but true!

    Cutlery Tools For Eating

Haha! I remember those days of radio. It's the difference between listening to those Yes albums all the way through versus just playing Roundabout over and over again!

    Cutlery Tools For Eating

I like! We actually use stainless steel sporks for everyday eating iron. Simplifies the cutlery drawer! Great for road trips too. Throw some sporks in a bag along with a roll of paper towels. Hit up some grocery stores along the way to make sammiches and salads. Avoid the fast food trap. We...

"Whats your favorite tool and why?"

10" Channellocks. I've had a pair in my hand, my back pocket or my toolbox for nearly fifty years. Yeah, I know there are more modern alternatives but I tend to go with what I know. As always, YMMV.

Metric vs. SAE standard tool usage?

You ever get those fasteners that don't seem to fit either metric or SAE particularly well? The ones that have a ton of draft angle on the sides of the hex? I don't know if it's just because of the cold heading process or if they mean to give you a fastener that's one size at the base and...

Box of disappointment, employer supplied toolbox.

Bring your own. Keep it locked to anyone but yourself. Take it home between shifts if you have to. Better than being handicapped by junk.

Go for that Kobalt set. It's got a beer opener. I can see it right there in the photo!

    WEN Combination Wrenches

If you're browsing HD, see what they have to offer from URREA. I have some DOEs from them that aren't bad and they were inexpensive.

    Grass Cutting Shoes?

Dad always mowed in his most worn out wingtips. I think the holes in the soles provided extra traction!

Craftsman USA Factory - Bad News

When I worked on speed reducers, we sold and serviced a product line from Taiwan. The machining was always excellent. I was told that Taiwan manufacturers receive financial support to continually upgrade their manufacturing equipment so they're always running the latest and greatest. It shows.

Will OSB beef up crappy particle board shelves?

I would be inclined to stiffen the shelves with some steel angle if possible.

Craftsman USA Factory - Bad News

I retired in 2016 from a mid level shop floor job in an electric arc mini mill in central Indiana. My pay, based on base rate + incentive bonus, was ~$35/hr. The company was extremely profitable. I can't see myself working in a foundry in Texas for anything like $15/hr. No way.

Craftsman USA Factory - Bad News

Laughing to myself right now because that's EXACTLY how it worked in my family. Our Sunday schedule was church, Sears, lunch and then home. Mom shopped her stuff, I headed for sporting goods and Dad would be in tools or around the lawnmowers or automotive. That was when Sears had a pretty good...
