Anvils as well! I guess GJ'ers could start a new tradition of gifting each newborn child and grandchild an anvil!

Craftsman USA Factory - Bad News

My thoughts exactly. When Craftsman made their last press release indicating a Q4 2022 rollout of the MiUSA tools, I assumed they would be available for Black Friday. I watched what was going on in my nearest Lowes, thinking I might be able to snag some things at holiday discount pricing...

Craftsman USA Factory - Bad News

So where will this 1% go? HJE? I can't imagine Lowe's wanting to introduce these into their systems for a one and done.

Here’s a new one… Craftsman Oil Change Kit

I don't get it. With all the quick lube places on every corner and auto parts stores catering to DIYers, SBD thinks this is a space to grow the Craftsman brand? Really?

Looks like made in China S-K sockets made their debut on Amazon.

My thoughts exactly. Compare to the Allen and Armstrong sets if you're looking at import tools bearing a legacy brand. I mean, it wouldn't matter to me. I'd buy any of these and gladly use them if I got them at the right price but that price would have to be pretty low as there are a lot of...

Looks like made in China S-K sockets made their debut on Amazon.

Yes. In my hometown, we had two auto parts stores. One sold SK tools and the other sold Thorsen. That's why my motley collection of tools was about 75% Craftsman and the rest was SK and T. I had no brand loyalty, lol.

Buying a master set of tools vs buying individually

Years ago, I bought piecemeal because I was very limited on funds. Years later, I still bought piecemeal because the sets contained too many pieces I'd never use. Buy what you need, buy quality and forget the filler.

Metal socket rails - is there a trick to these?

^^^^^ This has been my experience as well! You have to look at these like one of those meal kits. They give you the basic components and the final result is up to you, lol. A little time at the bench with a pair of needlenose make them work reasonably well.

Best small tool tote for small projects?

I thought my Dad was the only person who did that, lol! He would reinforce them with a little duct tape and use them for tools, parts and hardware. I can hear him now, "Hey! Don't throw that away. That's a toolbox!" The back of his work van was a sea of boxes but he had everything organized the...

ShopVac for the house? Alternatives for hard floor vacuuming?

Another vote for Shark. We have zero carpet in our home but we do have cats. The Shark works as advertised.

"Water Pump" pliers where does the name come from?

One of my maintenance duties, when I worked at the mill, was to check and maintain the lube levels on dozens of gearboxes driving the various roll lines around the reheat furnace and roughing stands. Lots of different kinds of boxes, with different configurations of fill plugs. Fortunately, a...

What brand are the yellow handled pump pliers? They look similar to some my Dad bought years ago.

    Downsizing

At some point you have to decide whether you want to live your dream or be weighed down by a bunch of stuff. Make that decision and the rest comes easy. The wife and I have been living the dream since 2018.
