What conduit size do I need to use for 100 amp?

1 1/4” is what I would use. 3 #3’s and a #8 will fit in a 1” but would be easier to pull through 1 1/4”. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Romex and conduit

Solid wire ***** period. You can push it in short runs without a fish tape but trying to add wires in later is a pain in the ***. Stranded wire is way easier. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Pipe threading disaster! What am I doing wrong?

I’ve never had to do that with a rigid 700 threader. They use the same dies as the hand threader. Why would hand threading pipe be any different seeing you’re using the same die.

What size airline in new shop

I see that most use black pipe for air lines. Does anyone use aluminum pipe for air? Seems to me aluminum pipe is cheaper, threads easier and won’t rust. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Rotary Phase Converter Suggestions

I run a 40hp RPC off my 200A service and I’ve had zero issues. I used to use drives to get 3 phase but the cnc lathe doesn’t like the “dirty” power from the drive so in went the RPC and a 100A panel for all the 3 phase machines. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Need advice on wire gauge and conduit, etc

I highly doubt that. A 450’ run, and what your going to know exactly where the fault is located. No way. By the time you locate the line and then the fault and dig it up and repair it you’re into that more than a couple hours. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Switch on 220 compressor

Commercial grade 20a switches are usually 120/277v rated so I don’t see a problem using a toggle switch on the control side. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

A simple ice cube relay is all you need. Contactor is overkill for that application. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Pole Barn Metal Roof Fasteners

Why can’t the screws be installed in the high rib? When the rain is running off the roof, it’s runs in the low part. Wouldn’t it be better to keep the screw out of the water. I believe Menards recommends putting the screws on the high side for roofing panels. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Drill press or mill?

I would go with a mill over a drill press ant day. I have two floor drill presses and a Bridgeport. If you’re looking for accurate holes the mill is the way to go. Just keep in mind that with the mill the machine itself is usually the cheapest part. It’s the rest of the tooling that can get very...

    Overdoing Air Drops and Regulator/Separators

    Building your own lathe?

I have to agree with looking on Craigslist. Also check local schools to see if they are discontinuing there shop programs. Good deals can be had there. I found a high school near me getting rid of the metalworking class and walked out of there with (3) 13” south bend lathes with tooling for...
