    "Champion" Carpenters' Pincers

Buried in the plier drawer of my tool box, I found these old carpenters' pincers. I had never given them any thought before, but I wanted to research them. First off, I had no idea they were carpenters' pincers until I went through very old catalogs on the International Tool Catalog Library. The...

    "Craft Alloy" C-14 Wrench

A while back I found a small 7/16" combo wrench that looked interesting, so I purchased it. It is marked "7/16 C-14 CRAFT ALLOY 7/16", and on the flip-side, simply marked "Japan". Has anyone heard of the "Craft" brand? The fact that it has the part number "C-14" makes me believe it is...

    Craftsman Screwdriver Handles

Could that be a handle for a 4-in-1 screwdriver set?

    Tool id

I work at a water treatment plant, and I can confirm. These are used to replace the packing inside pumps. We have a toolbox in our job that is dedicated just to replacing pump packing.

    Raise panel vs. Smooth wrenches

I voted for raised panel, because I grew up with Craftsman, but I have a lot of SK/ Lectrolite wrenches. I also have a few Williams raised panel wrenches that I really like. But, I have many smooth wrenches that I like as well, like smooth Snap-On's that Don has, because they belonged to my...

    Let’s see that Vaco stuff!

I'm sure this has been answered before, but when did Vaco disappear into Klein?

    Unknown Tool

I see "Jiffy" "USA" and "Pat. Pend." Are there any other markings?

    Which "Shaw" is this?

This "Shaw" DOE is going in my collection, but I see multiple "Shaw" companies listed in the index here on GJ. I Googled "Joseph Shaw Co., Toledo, OH wrench" and in Google Images, I got an eBay listing for a wrench identical to mine. The seller seems to think it's Joseph Shaw, but I have no...

"Chromium Vanadium" - Who Made it? 10/21/21

I have a 1/2" drive socket with a pattern I have not seen thus far in this thread. My gut leans towards Indestro like the other sockets already shown. There appears to be three different layers of coating on this socket. There is a light silver coating, like paint or a chrome plating, then a...

Goodell-Pratt 218 Tube Glass Cutter- Need new cutting wheel

Currently I am working on cleaning up what I thought were weird pliers. I discovered they are Goodell-Pratt #218, glass tube cutter, for cutting tube glass such as sight glasses on boilers. When I found them, the part that slides up the shaft with ruler markings was frozen, the thumbscrew was...

    Pocket tools?

For work, I had a Gerber multi-tool for the past few years and finally gave up on it a couple months ago when it seized up. Now I keep an old Leatherman in the leather pouch on my belt. The Leatherman belonged to my grandfather. I also decided to start carrying a 6" Diamond adjustable wrench...

    Let's show our wood (screwdrivers)

Yes, that ferrule and handle look just like mine! However, I looked through various old Stanley catalogs and their Phillips screwdrivers look completely different. I am starting to think that whoever manufactured the handle and ferrule contracted out to other companies for various shafts.

    Dunlap tools & boxes

I recently found a socket set in the red metal box just like d42jeep showed in post #381. Based on the picture of Don's set, it appears I am missing the ratchet and adapter. Anybody have any spares they're willing to trade?

Post up your Powr-Kraft and other Wards tools

I just bought this pair of "Power Kraft" 4652-8 pliers. I thought the normal spelling of "Power" was odd. Upon further inspection, it appears these were made by Penens or another brand in the Pendleton Tool family. Here is a picture next to Challenger pliers, showing the identical grip pattern...

    Craftsman Screwdriver Evolution 1950-2017

I picked up another interesting screwdriver recently. This one is a Reed & Prince #2. It has "Reed & Prince" and "Alloy" stamped on the shank, and no manufacturer code on the handle, just "made in USA".

    Craftsman Screwdriver Evolution 1950-2017

So riddle me this...I just came across a "Forged - BF" screwdriver, with a square shank and slotted head, but it is the blue and clear handle color of a Phillips screwdriver. It measures 3/16" x 4". This is one of three "Forged - BF" drivers I picked up a few days ago. All three have the lines...

    Let's show our wood (screwdrivers)

I would be inclined to believe that it is later production. The ferrule is in nice enough shape to steer me away from the Frankenstein theory. This driver definitely does not look jerry-rigged to me. Would this screwdriver be sold as a "Reed & Prince"-branded driver? Or would the blade be used...

    Kraeuter

I just picked up a pair of these as well. Different font for the "Kraeuter" lettering. Also stamped "606" on the other side, not sure what that means. The handles are painted red. Don't know if that's original, but I liked it so I left it when I was cleaning these.

    Lectrolite, Lectrolite Tru Fit

Does anyone know when Lectrolite actually first started using the "Tru-Fit" brand? Here is an early Tru-Fit DOE that I came across last week.

    Show off your DOE's!

Here are some of my other recent DOE finds. The first few pics are a Wright 1340 wrench, 1-1/8" x 1-1/4", with a mark of "89" (assuming that's 1989?). This one I found as part of an old chlorine gas leak response kit that was getting tossed. It had thick yellow paint on everything but the heads...
