    Bottle jack piston seal repair

No, you cannot use an O ring, you need a leather cup washer. They are as rare as rocking horse ****, but when you find a place that sells them you will find that they come in a multitude of sizes. They used to be used in farm water pumps, especially windmill pumps. There used to be a place here...

contact tips for obsolete Hobart Piecemaker 14A gun

I would just ask over the counter at a local welding supply shop; they will have every generic tip in every size and configuration, the bloke behind the counter will just know what it is by looking at it.

    Barcelona or Andorra tool store???

30 years since I was there, the border police were more interested in my red beard than what I was carrying (I told them I was red beard, not Red Brigade) They let me through. From what I've seen on Tour de France coverage the border looks pretty open.

Makita drill problem - it fell apart

Or will a Torx bolt fit the drive on the end of the shaft? If so, weld something onto the bolt so it won't turn in the vyse. Hope the spline is strong enough to resist deforming.

Makita drill problem - it fell apart

Can you grip the shaft in a metal working lathe? Or a piece of hardwood 2x1 with a hole the diameter of the shaft drilled in the middle, a saw cut along the long axis to the middle of the hole, all clamped tight in the vyce while you whack the Allen key with a wooden mallet or a deadblow hammer?

    lights won't hang straight

How about some solid standoffs, I'm thinking curtain rod or wardrobe hanging rod (although it's hollow these days) with the little flanges. Screw or pop rivet together.

You don't even need all clear tube, just a bit of clear on each end of a garden hose; just so long as the joins are tight.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Worked on the Improved windscreen washer pump for my Peugeot. The bottom seal leaks, (on the last 2 that I've bought!)the motor fills with water, it rusts solid. Recently...(great word, covers a multitude of days).. I removed the pump, took it to work and xrayed it to get an idea of the...

My friends who live in Netherlands are almost local to this place, maps tells me one (in Voorburg) is about 20km, and one (in Berkel en Rodenjris) is about 25km! I'll keep a watch on this post to see whether you get a reply from the company before I send them off on an adventure to get some for you!

Cutting 3/8 bronze bushings shorter Am I on the correct path?

Hacksaw, fine toothed? 32TPI. Or a nice fine toothed mini hacksaw. Drill a 3/8 hole in a piece of ply / pallet wood a couple of inches from the end, cut a slit from the end to the hole, insert your bushing to the desired depth, clamp in vyce (or vice for N American spellers), run the saw down...
