    Most homeowners dont mind having a crack or two in their concrete walls. I would say more than less here do. Thats why the engineered path is suggested.

    Was it engineered? If it is exposed on the exterior, you basically now have a retaining wall. Last thing you want is the wall sliding down the hill or pushing out at the top.

    Going a bit further and adding a 1000lb hoist load at the center I come up with a 16x36. Also limited deflection to L/600 for the trolly to work correctly. Fully unbraced too unless you have a floor plan you can supply.

    but they still hold more volume than a SCBA cylinder. Thats why he said he can get 1 hour bottle time in 30' of water. Also the added weight of the tank helps get you down.

    The volume of air in a SCUBA tank is 2-3 times that of a SCBA. Also you are not exerting too much energy SCUBA diving. Try working at your max breathing a tank and see how long it lasts.

    Its doenst matter, since the bottom chord is not spanning across the whole roof. Think of the 2 verticals a a wall, supporting the middle span. then the next span inbetween 2 other walls and so fourth. its a system. The plates are super strong, its all in tension or compression basically.

    Trusses are designed to use as little material as they can. The big span is 2x6 for that loading, supported by the truss. If you want reassurances, as them to have it signed and sealed by an engineer.

    Since its a pole barn, you dont need to worry about shear walls, the poles are doing that work. With that, you could put it at the edge of the pole. Keep in mind you need a structure to support the track that extends beyond the barn if thats your plan.

    Sounds like the store is properly managed. Clearance items are obviously not profitable for the stores.
