Help with wiring a Sonoff POW CT meter in subpanel

Thanks. I'll change out both cords with 14g solid copper. When I rewire the meter power I'll double check but I remember taping the ends of the grey feeds with black tape. I'll double check under those plastic caps when I dig in there.

Help with wiring a Sonoff POW CT meter in subpanel

So many questions! But you guys nailed most of them. Yes, temporary cord to power the meters via 220v. Instructions I saw concerning the mini split meter said I should power the meter with the same circuit as the mini split. Didn't sound "wrong" so I did it that way. That meter has been in...

Help with wiring a Sonoff POW CT meter in subpanel

Thank you very much mm08822! I managed to get those working with no problems. I'm hopefully on my way to collecting monthly data so I can create an off grid solar package that fits my needs I appreciate the help. Tim On the left is my mini split metering. On the right are the two legs on...

Help with wiring a Sonoff POW CT meter in subpanel

I am trying to collect some electrical use data on a new garage with a 100a subpanel. I want three or four months of electrical usage to calculate a solar system to power the garage off grid. If you have any experience with the Sonoff POW CT please chime in and let me know how this may work...

Watt meter for 220v heat pump

The Sonoff PowCT (aka Sonoff Ring) is wired and working well. It works with WIFI and an APP to tell me the current draw, today's kWh, yesterday's kWh, this month's kWh, voltage and watts. So far I am very pleased about the little current my 18K mini-split uses to maintain 45F most of the time...

Watt meter for 220v heat pump

Thanks for the translation : ) I'm comfortable with wiring, however this meter is new to me. Thus the questions. I'll update the thread after I get the meter.

Watt meter for 220v heat pump

My mistake. I am using "heat pump" and "mini split" interchangeably. It is a Senville Aura 18k mini split. I'm on the WI/MI border. It is marketed as producing heat down to -30c or -22f. Hoping that's my experience. When it gets down to below -10f (rarely anymore) I tend to take the dog...

Watt meter for 220v heat pump

Thanks for the advice, however I should note that you are replying to someone that is unfamiliar with the nomenclature you posted. I don't know what H1 and H2 are. Nothing in my install manuals or terminal designations refer to those. And your previous reply... "Torid"? : ) No disrespect...

Watt meter for 220v heat pump

Bought the Sonoff Powct (Ring) unit. It's on a slow boat from China. I'll give an update on it, and maybe some more questions after I get it installed. I vac'd out the line set this afternoon on the Senville Aura 18k. If the vacuum is still holding after a couple hours I'll release the...

Watt meter for 220v heat pump

I worded that wrong. It's not an "Emergency Heat" setting. It is referred to as "FP" on the remote and app (Freeze protection). It will maintain about 42f in the heated space. The Senville Aura 18k BTU's lowest setting is 62f. That's probably as warm as I'll ever need it since I keep my...

Watt meter for 220v heat pump

Haha. No man-splaining going on here : ) I'm now looking at a Sonoff Powct (aka Sonoff Ring. It seems to have two model names). It's a little more than what I was looking for in that it does wifi but the price is reasonable and it seems simple to mount inside the breaker panel with an...

Watt meter for 220v heat pump

My better half : ) I am just being pro-active for when my bride asks me how much that heated workshop is costing! I mostly want to be able to verify that the heat pump is using about what I estimate for cost to run. I don't think I'll be keeping it real warm most of the time. Just want it to...

Watt meter for 220v heat pump

Thanks. I looked at that option but it's more than I need. I just want a running total of watts. I don't have any interest in monitoring other loads.

Watt meter for 220v heat pump

Looking for a simple watt meter to measure watts over time for a new heat pump (220v). Some inexpensive meters have pass through hall sensors, others have hard wired connections. The models I am looking at are between $15 & $30. One example... Is there a big difference in accuracy between...

    Drywall taping near receptacle boxes

I'm finding replies to my original post sometimes helpful, sometimes comical. If you read the first sentence of the original post it will address a lot of the questions/comments I rec'd after. Please take no offense. I truly got a chuckle out of some of the replies. Anywho, I've got it...

    Drywall taping near receptacle boxes

Slightly inset. But box mounting depth has nothing to do with what I was referring to. Several boxes are located about 3/8" to 1/2" from a beveled seam edge. On those the entire box will be mudded over to create a smooth surface for the receptacle and cover. Most of the boxes on the ceiling...
