    Fastcraft oscillating tool at costco

The sticker on mine says 2.4 amp motor. So maybe it's not quite as good a deal as I thought. But it has held up to light household use so far.

    Anvil type object. Or not?

If you're buying from a remnant yard, that's about right. If your selling to the scrap yard, it's maybe $0.04/lb ($80/ton). But it really depends where you are too.

You're absolutely right. I should have said "some" power tools. I should have known better-- I have a 1950's Craftsman drill press. My comment might still apply to things like cordless tool battery tech though.

    Air Compressor Placement

Heat's not good for electronics, but you're just raising the ambient temperature, not heating the motor. How far away? And will the motor be receiving radiant heat directly?

500$ your wife doesn’t know about.

I'd spend the $500 on a tool cabinet to get organized.

    Ellis 6000 belt sander

Nice belt grinder. I like that tray in the middle for setting workpieces on.

    Mezzanine capacity?

For the last section that you have to build, you might try cutting away a strip of OSB, cut the studs down by the height of your joists, and set the joists on top of the studs and connect with a tie plate.

    Mezzanine capacity?

If I had to guess where it would fail first if you just kept adding weight until failure, I'd guess it would fail at the screws holding the 2x6s to the walls. To be on the safe side, you could add a some large nails there (better under shear load than screws). If you wanted to be extra paranoid...

Need help with a project gentleman

How is the header attached to the wall? It needs to tie into the wall with a mechanical connection and not rely on gravity / mortar.

Problem with that is moisture from the concrete and eventual rot.

If you don't have something better, you can use a 2x4 jack

Did the foam squeeze outside between the roof and walls? It might be interfering with the roof's drip edge and bringing water in.
