    Roll Cage Installation Tips?

The main drawback of that bender is that it's slow. I know people who have built dirt cars with one though. Reread the fine print. 1 3/4" wall thickness capacity is .110", which is fine for a dirt car. Can't remember, are you using .120" or .134"? Not to say I've never used a tool past it's...

A manual bender like a JD2 has to be anchored to the floor. It's a PITA unless you have a spot that you can leave it set up. There has to be a race car shop in your area that can rebend your bars.

Patching Rusty and Thin Sheetmetal - JB Weld? Fiberglass?

Yeah, don't be the guy who has a big chunk of Bondo fall off on the track.

Patching Rusty and Thin Sheetmetal - JB Weld? Fiberglass?

If the holes are small and not structural I'd call them weight savings and ventilation. If you plan to apply any sort of thermal barrier to the floor like Lizard Skin I'd tape the backside and spray the holes full. Check the consistency of your spray barrier to make sure it's thick enough for...

Any Garage Door Techs? Need New Springs.

Spring just failed on my big shop door(18' x 12'). The door came down on the roof of my car as I was pulling in. Wouldn't have been good if it hit a person. At first I thought it broke the opener as well. The sudden load change must have been too much for the opener clutch. It seems fine...

That's awesome. I feel like I've built some heavy wooden benches, but that's next level.

When I was looking at building a Lemons car it was pointed out to me that a lot of oval track builders cages fail tech because they haven't read the rules. There are some things in the rules that I'd argue over or at least make someone explain the reasoning behind. In the end though, it's...

    DIY ATV Build

Just throw this out there... When I was looking for a four-wheeler one that I looked at had been traded in by an old farmer for a side by side because he couldn't get on the four-wheeler anymore. I'd go the SXS-style route right off the bat due to your dad's age and how much more useful a SXS is.

What did the chassis do when you removed the roof? I would expect a unibody car to deform quite a bit with the roof off.

Not cage-specific but, you have a mid-rise lift? Some of the things the car will have to be on the ground. Other things will be easier if it's up a ways. Pay attention to what the door gaps do on the lift. If the front subframe sags you don't want to weld off the cage with it that way. Take...

The difference between a good holesaw notcher and the HF is accuracy and longevity. Get the HF, you're doing one cage. Feed speed, drill rpm, and lube are going to be you're determining factors in holesaw life. Some people swear by cheapy Menards Lennox holesaws. JD2 says homestore bi-metal...

In college I thought an XR4ti was the coolest. Haven't seen one in years. I had an 88 1/2 ****** GT at the time, Don't remember why my ****** was a half year, but it was.

    Hercules cordless sawzall

Yes, after posting this thread and thinking about it that's exactly what I need to do. I have a Stihl MS170 and my dad's old 026. I've always ran Stihl chains on them, but then of course get mad when I stick one in the dirt. For this project I'll put a cheap chain on the 170 and use it for...

    Hercules cordless sawzall

Anyone have one? Are they OK? I'm cutting some small trees out of a fence line in my timber. Thinking about getting a cordless sawzall to cut the stumps down to where they can be mowed over. Biggest stump is probably 6" in diameter, most are much smaller. I hardly ever use a sawzall and...
