Safety wire is recommended in the novice groups, but required in the more advanced groups. Loctite is not an option, they need to be able to see that certain fasteners are backed up with wire.

Hi, I'm installing a trailer wiring kit on my truck and would like to get rid of the cheap insulated connectors that came with the kit and replace them with good non insulated connectors and shrink wrap. I was wonder what brand of non insulated crimp connector you would recommend? Thanks

Thanks guys for all the great suggestions! I'm going to start with a sharp plastic scraper. If I need more than that, I just picked up the Motiom Pro brass scraper mentioned in an earlier post. I'll use Acetone for the final wipe down prior to assembly. Thanks again!

Yep, being aluminum, I knew I shouldnt use a metal scraper to remove the old gasket, so I picked up a couple of plastic scrapers so I wouldn't marr the surface. I was just wondering what cleaner to use for the final surface wipe down prior to installing the new gasket and cover. Thanks guys!

I just picked up a set of the VIM stubby torx sockets to remove the T30 torx bolts that attach the stator to the engine cover on my motorcycle. Can anyone tell me if these sockets will hold up to occasionally using them with a hand held impact driver.

Thanks guys for all the great suggestions, looks like a thread chaser and/or wire brush with a shot of compressed air to clean things out is the way to go. I'm going to pick up a set of those thread chasers, as they look to be a good tool to have. Thanks again!
