I'm lucky. It's 100 miles to the nearest Harbor Freight. It's 75 miles to a city that has a pawn shop every 100 feet. I'll take my chances with the pawn shops.

O'reilly's is about the only place I have to go around here (besides NAPA). FWIW, I have never been dissatisified with the tools I have bought from there. And like Blacknwhitepit said, their service is great. It also helps that when I am really in a bind, my dad has a business account there...

I rarely buy from Summit. They're about inline with Jeg's and NAPA (a bit overpriced). The only time I buy something from there is when I can't find it at a circle track oriented store. (For example, most people on ovals run SBC's, not Olds... Summit does carry some Olds stuff that I need.)

I have a rule about pawn shops: don't pay more than 50% of what is on the sticker. I've learned from pawning things off when money was tight when I attempted college that its usually marked at least four times what they paid for it. I bought a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier half stack for $100...

Plexiglass plate. My burette (and various other measuring devices) found their way to my home when I was in high school. Basically, it is a super cheap version of this. $20 gets you a piece of plexiglass and a 100cc burette.

I had the same type of problem on my Intrepid. Coils tested fine, but I could tell that one cylinder wasn't firing. Turned out I had a bad wire. Yeah, I know, I could've just licked my finger and stuck it to the ends of the wires (like when in a pinch at the track), but the timing light was...

I just use alcohol and a 100cc burette. When the chamber is full, I subtract what is left from 100.

Just make sure its not a section which is currently in use.

That... and use the screwgun to polish the car. :)

I never thought about doing that in my new garage. It's a 20x22, but it was filling up pretty damn fast. The outlook for tool additions over the next few years was looking pretty bleak until you said that. :beer:
