I have an old out-of-production 1/4" ratchet that's missing a pawl. I'm toying with the idea of trying to machine a replacement for it. I suspect the pawl would be worthless unless heat treated to a useable hardness? Anybody want to take a guess at hardness range (RC) of a typical ratchet pawl?
