    The repurposing thread

The handrail turned out great. It has an old school industrial vibe. The smooth bends in the emt add a bit of a deco touch.

    Interesting vise stand concept

The completed stand is amazing. The Lejeune bolts tie in well with the button head bolts that hold the vise in place. Removing the copper counterweights fits in with the clean lines of the stand. Royce, I really enjoy following along with your projects. Watching your projects evolve as you...

    Interesting vise stand concept

I think that the Lejeune bolts look great. The copper hardware dish is really cool. Hmm, what if you copper plate the Lejeune bolts to tie in with the hardware cup? Maybe the bolts attaching the vise could also be copper plated.

Starrett No. 185 Drill and Wire Gauge

If the surface is not too pitted, I like to do a slow rust blue on the plate and then flat sand the surface. I expect that cold blue would work, but it's not as durable. I have better luck with this method than screwing around with attempting to wipe paint off the surface while allowing it to...

    Interesting vise stand concept

It's my opinion that geegaws hanging off the side of the column detract from the overall design. I'm thinking that something subtle would work best. I like the star shaped thing. I assume that it's a piece from a grinding wheel dresser. You may want to consider attaching it with a button...

Did Huot always have their oval on all boxes they made?

Not all Huot boxes have the embossed oval. I believe it was phased in around the mid- fifties. One of my co-workers has a Huot without the embossed oval. The top box in the OP's pic is definitely made by Huot since the embossed oval is present. I'm not sure about the bottom box. The general...

To label, or not to label (toolbox drawers)

All of my hardware bins and drawers are labeled with a Brother P-Touch. My coworkers all giggle when I talk about my P-Touch!? Go P-Touch! I don't really like labels on toolbox drawers. If I had to label the drawers, they would have to look like this:
