    Timing light

16v is probably fine but without knowing anything about the specific circuit I wouldn't risk it. I'd just use a separate 12v battery as others have suggested. I'm very curious about this 16 volt car. I've been messing with cars for a long time and I've never heard of such a thing. Edit...

    Moving large tool boxes.

This isn't exactly a scientific test but my boxes have traveled thousands of miles loaded with tools. All of them came across country loaded when I moved from Upstate NY to NM and the one that's in the race trailer has about 20k miles on it.

Moving a post and beam building -pole barn

The pole barns I'm familiar with from my time in Upstate NY are post every 4' sunk 4' in the ground. They have an eave girder to keep the tops of the poles aligned and girts to attach the siding to. Some of them have a lower skirt. Almost all of the strength comes from the poles in the...

    Thread forming taps

The groves are for lubrication. You need lots of it flowing in and out of the hole. Use a cutting oil not a mist. Also, you need a larger hole than a standard tap. Drill Size = Major Diameter – [(0.0068 x desired % of thread) / Threads Per Inch] Drill Size (mm) = Major Diameter – [(0.0068 x...

    Cheap 26" Rolling Tool Boxes?

I've been really happy with the Husky box I put in my car trailer. It's not equivalent to the Snap-On and Mac boxes that I have in the shop but it's been bounced around in my trailer for two years and something like 20k miles and it still works like new.

Moved to New Hampshire, got me an attached 2 car heated garage!! Need some snow/lawn tools and counseling

The gravel driveway is less than optimal for snow removal. A snow blower will tend to break shear pins and fling gravel out onto the lawn or wherever you blow the snow to. A plow will tend to pile gravel wherever up push the snow to. You can mitigate those things but you still kind of have to...

Short cuts when others would run to the hardware store.

A machinist friend of mine says that he'll often make fittings when doing weekend plumbing projects. In addition to allowing him to complete the project on his schedule he enjoys the idea of someone in the distant future going to the hardware store to try and match his custom work.

I'd pull the pan and even though it's not original I'd use RTV instead of the cork gasket.

    Exhaust valves. Are these salvageable?

It's always hard to tell from pictures but both the seats and the valves look salvageable but you're not going to do it with lapping.

    Pumpless TIG Chiller Concept

That's interesting. I think you'll need to not only close off the air supply to the empty tank but also vent it so that it can refill but otherwise I think that it would work. I'm not sure that the added complexity gains you anything over a conventional system however.

Advice on removing sheared off bolt from intake manifold

Is that a bolt or a stud? It looks like the other fastener is a stud and if this is one as well then you're not going to twist it out. Also, at the risk of being called a hack; how critical is that fastener, can you get away with just leaving it as is?

Ever loose a Nut or Bolt while working on your car?

I'm gland you're not offended but to be clear. I like cartoons and comics, it's the having to watch a video to read the comic that bother's me.

Ever loose a Nut or Bolt while working on your car?

I'm reluctant to post this because I don't want it to be taken the wrong way but It's really intended to be helpful. I don't have the patience to sit through an almost three and a half minute video of a comic strip that would probably take me thirty seconds to read. from the minute I watched I...

Looking at purchasing property with existing building, need to add entrance for auto-updated

Your door height will be limited by the ceiling height and you'll likely be able to put a taller door on one of the gable ends but judging by the pictures there's no reason why you couldn't put a vehicle sized door on that building. if you're not jacking up vehicles then most concrete floors...
