    Matco 88 tooth rebuil kit

not to steal the thread but do you guys actually break your GearWrench ratchets and then upgrade? or just buy and upgrade? I bought 3 ratchets planning on upgrading them all but they're nice enough already I don't really feel the need to until they break (if ever)

    Craftsman 299 pc. Socket Set

I started with the Craftsman 263 piece set, put them on HF rails: was $20 for all the rails, and I'm putting all the deep sockets up top most likely. the rails are pretty cheap feeling and some sockets really need to be yanked off but it should get easier over time

    HOT DEAL Index!!

I got a call from princessauto that my order had to be cancelled since they ended up being out of stock on the impact sockets that I had ordered, but they let me still order the wrenches the next day with free shipping. I just got shipping confirmation today. I am a little disappointed, but...

    COO Quality Ranking

I don't think it's an absolute in all cases, but generally I agree with the original post for instance I have to say my Taiwanese gearwrench ratchets are many times nicer than my USA craftsman raised panel ratchets, and I paid under $20 each for my 1/2", 3/8", and 3/8" stubby gearwrench...

Guys Without Lifts: Orginization of Tools on Floor While Working on Cars

I throw all the parts I take off in a cardboard box, but that's about it. Somehow the ratchet/socket/extension I need always ends up on the complete opposite side of the car 100% of the time

WTF do we have to do to prevent Impact Gun overkill?

I hate when shops do that, on a friends' tiburon we had to use a breaker bar and a 6 foot pipe to get a few of them off I help out at a shop, and to be honest we usually just use an impact but turn it down to where it's possible to get them off by hand. It takes 2 seconds to adjust it, I don't...

Best 1/2 pneumatic impact for $100 new OR used?

I vote Ingersoll Rand 231 I've used the earthquake once or twice also, and it seems like a good bang for the buck as well. I picked up a used (very very used) IR-231 for $40 a few weeks ago and it's awesome.

    compressed air filter

thanks for the input! I'll take a look at what size it is this week. we tried emptying the compressor on a daily basis but still shoots water 10 minutes later. I was hoping for a cheap fix, because the compressors/lifts/etc are owned by the landlord and we're already having to repair one of...

last week I had some extra cash so I figured I would pick up a nice new ratchet or two (nice in comparison to my craftsman), and ended up with 7 new ratchets at the end of the week

Craftsman club sale - some venting, and a question...

I picked up two sets of the bolt outs! while there I also exchanged a broken impact swivel even though I only had one half of it, and picked up some "evolv" impact sockets because I got 25% off of them and the guy told me if I ever had a problem he would warranty them for me just like any other...

    compressed air filter

how much water do most water traps hold? at the shop we have the compressors outside and then about 50 feet of metal tube before the line, and the thing shoots out more water than a hose. are there any cheap drainable water traps worth looking at?

ratcheting combination vs non-ratcheting combination wrench?

at home I use a regular wrench to break it free, and then a ratchet wrench if it's a bolt I know is on there pretty good. I have medium length sets of each (i.e. not stubby or super long). at the shop doing brakes on cars or oil changes I use these...

    Brake line flare/cutting/bending kit

I help out at a shop, and one day a car came in for a brake line. Someone had "borrowed" a whole bunch of his tools and we had no flare tool at the shop, so I stopped at Sears and picked up one just like this for about $25 just to get the job done...
