Air Movers - Who's familiar with them

I have a cheap HF mover (http://www.harborfreight.com/8-inch-portable-ventilator-97762.html). Works pretty well, feels pretty sturdy. The crew that recently worked on my office building had the Dri-Eaz blowers, so I imagine those are quite good.

    what is this? snap on

My guess was it was a starter for 2-stroke race bikes. It would probably work great for it.

3/8" Drive Metric Impact Sets USA

I'm in the same boat. I just ordered the 15pc Armstrong set. $80 shipped is pretty good, I checked the 14pc set (biggest listed on Armstrong's site) and the lowest I saw was $130 + shipping.

Lifespan of a Digital Tire Gauge.

It's entirely possible that the cheap gauge doesn't properly compensate for temperature. If you're using it in the very cold, this may well be the issue.

    Cheap digital calipers vs. Mitutoyo

Nice review of some of the various cheap calipers against a Mitutoyo:

    Changing Socket Sizes

This discussion is quite informative. The standards comparison chart a number of posts back helped me understand why VW added the 'BiHex' (or is it triple square or XZN?) as it's an ISO not DIN standard. I am curious why they moved to this shape away from Torx or Allen, perhaps due to patents?

    Sawdust collection option

I think what you're looking for is a hood for your miter saw, something like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MFGRT06/?tag=atomicindus08-20 I would highly recommend a cyclonic separator. They'll catch most of the particles so you don't need to clean your shop vac filter much at all...

    need table saw advice

I agree with many of the above posts. I have a somewhat similar setup for my confined space: - Bosch 4100 saw - Rousseau table (should have bought the fence extension too) - Paulk workbench (checkout the woodworking forums for more details) With this, I can rip the full length of sheet...

GRR-Ripper GR-100 push block at Lowes for $40

If you're a woodworker, you've probably seen these push blocks. Usually, they aren't cheap, $60-80 each! Lowes had this on sale initially for $49.99 then lowered the price in the past day or so to $39.99. This is a bit lower than you'd be able to get these from someone like Rockler with a 20%...

    Home Depot Clearance Thread 2014

I saw a Milwaukee 2453-22 M12 fuel 1/4 impact at my store in N Dallas for $139. Not sure why it would have been marked down.

Keter Folding Work Table - $39.99 @ Costco (YMMV)

Costco, but it was the display one zip tied to the racking. I don't imagine it got much abuse.

Keter Folding Work Table - $39.99 @ Costco (YMMV)

I have an adjustable leg version and it's a little wobbly. A lot of reviews say it's really solid, so I'm not sure if my expectation is too much for a folding table?

    Harbor Freight all-stars

I used this to R&R the rear bearings of my Subaru. Piece of cake to remove and install the bearing. A lot of the comments say this thing is weak. I'm not sure I agree though. When I did the above job, I failed to remove the outer seal at first. I cranked this thing down like crazy with a good...

Odd ball or 'gimmick' tools that ACTUALLY ever worked for you

For those asking, this is a Mayhew stud extractor. I've been eying this on Amazon and the camel says it's ~50% off the typical price. Ususally ~$45. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000XSCDEA/?tag=atomicindus08-20

When a motor is stuck, why does current (amps) go up?

V0 = (I x R) + Ve Where: Vo = Power supply (Volts) I = Current (A) R = Terminal Resistance (Ohms) Ve = Back EMF (Volts) Also: Ve = ω x Ke Where: ω= angular velocity of the motor ke = back EMF constant of the motor Therefore, by substitution: Vo = (I x R) + (ω x Ke) Therefore, by subtraction...
