    Digital caliper purchase help

Decent video showing the pros and cons of a couple mainstream calipers: I bought a pair of iGaging Absolute Origin calipers and have been happy with their performance. A big step up from HF.

Updated Ridgid Miter Saws- who's got one?

What's the space concern for a slider? For storage of while using? On my Makita LS1016L, I can rotate the blade all the way to one side and it's pretty narrow, front-to-back. However, when you're using it, it needs a bit of space behind it to slide.

local sears had almost all Knipex, Channelllock ,and USA craftsman hand tools on sale

My Sears had these deals. Valley View Sears in North Dallas. Picked up the Knipex end nippers and a Picquic Dash 7 for <$5. They had a lot of stuff on sale. Some pretty good deals on stuff other than pliers too.

    Rain barrel

I would recommend a downspout diverter. There are several designs out there. There are two reasons you'd want to use a diverter: 1. Locating the barrel someplace than RIGHT under the downspout, 2. When the barrel eventually fills to capacity, you can direct the overflow to where you want it...

If you do automotive wiring repair, this new tool might be handy.

I prefer the Tyco Soldergrip products for splicing. Very easy to use and combines the heat shrink, solder and mechanical support into a single heat-shrinkable connector.

    Travel tool kits

I have a few of the Ridgid Pro Organizer boxes. Structural foam plastic. Similar to the DeWalt ToughSystem but a bit cheaper. I like them since they can clip together so they're easier to secure in the trunk. The middle-sized box has a removable tool tray for smaller things.

Opinions on Ball Joint service set

I really like how the adapters clip into the press and themselves. Brilliant.

Best wood cutting tool to buy first

I'll add that a circular saw is the most versatile. A few simple jigs and you can tackle a lot of projects. If you have the extra budget or find a good deal, a lot of people love their track saws. For long rips: To add, don't buy into the laser mark and all that. IMHO, it's worthless because...

    Clear coating for kitchen cabinets:

I bought a can like this to respray some bronze house numbers that had become tarnished and unreadable. Excellent finish and it's very durable and so far doing good with the UV. Many of the 2-pack cans are isocynate which needs special respirator filters not commonly available. While some people...

Recommendations for a ~500ft-lb battery impact?

Just get the Milwaukee 2763. Unless a raft of other options have come to market recently, there aren't many options for what you're looking for. When the 2763 came out, there were plenty of ~300 ft-lb options and the IR big daddy, but not much else. DeWalt has the DFC889 @ 400 ft-lbs...

does anyone have Dewalt's reversible ratcheting wrenches?

I bought a 10pc metric set shortly after they were released. I wanted the missing wrenches from the older GearWrench set I had. At the time, the comparable GearWrench set was a bit more. To me, they feel the same as the gearwrench offering.

    Cordless String Trimmer Owners: Weigh-in

I have this Ryobi: https://www.ryobitools.com/products/details/578 Picked it up refurbished from HD for $100. More than enough power and battery for my small lawn.

Anyone using Ryobi's 40v Outdoor Tools?

I picked up a refurb Ryobi 40V string trimmer recently. I also have a venerable Ryobi corded trimmer they no longer make but is a beast for electric. Wife didn't want to drag the cord out so I searched for cordless. Until recently, the cordless ones have been pretty gutless. It's important to...

20T press or HF wheel bearing kit?

I have the wheel bearing press kit. Did a rear Subaru bearing with the kit. Saved a lot of time having to remove the knuckle. I imagine if the suspension bolts are fairly rusty, it might not be so easy taking the knuckle off. Add in the space savings over a press. I the end, it depends on your...

Small Price Drop on Ridgid Modular Boxes

Any opinions between these and DeWalt's TSTAK system? Are these Ridgid boxes more comparable to the Tough System? Rockler has the TSTAK stuff for bit less for a similar setup.
