A different approach: how many wires can I put on a schedule 40 3" PVC conduit? The plan on this approach would be to put the feeder cable on its own conduit and the rest of the Romex cables on a 3" conduit.

I think there are about 15+ cables that go into the breaker box. This is why I'm thinking gutter/raceway instead of separate conduit for each cable.

That's the next step, to calculate how much battery would be needed for say 24 hours of operation. That would not even be a continuous 24 hours as the boiler turns on and off as needed. Considering how diligent our power company is about restoring power this would provide a quite ample safety net.
