    Buying a new 4-1/2” grinder

Buy a 5” or 6” unit, the extra depth on cutoff wheels is nice and they come in 11-13 amp flavor without the mass of a 7”-9”. Don’t just take the guard off to run the bigger wheels, you will regret it when it gets ahold of you. Also consider a variable speed unit. Non-wovens are for real but...

    Oversized Magnetic Glove Dispenser?

Stuff that is easy to find and reasonable to buy I usually just buy it. If I can’t find what I want I make it. If you have a break or some angle iron and c clamps bend one up from 16ga or so. If wood working tools are available make one from 1/4” plywood.

    Show us your pegboard!

I had a peg board(s) since 2008, moved them 2 states, 2 apartments, and one house. Went to a full cleat system starting last Christmas break. The metal shop has been a complete disaster since, but these pics are about 2 months old....it’s much better now, swear! The Ellis is now gone and lots...

    Small Diameter Tubing Bender Recommendation

Check out Imperial Eastman kits on eBay. Good quality, US made, lots of slightly used models available. I paid about $200 shipped for mine, but it is not in perfect cosmetic condition, expect to pay a little more based on condition. Have not used on stainless, but easily bend plain steel...

Which locking pliers currently on the market hold up the best?

I know it doesn’t really help because I can not comment on the strength of the teeth on the newer models, but I picked up a set of nos blue point swivel pad clamp style on eBay that are fantastic. Hands down the best locking plier mechanism I have used. Since tooth strength on his style is not...

    Icon tool box pricing

I am convinced the push for new brands at HF is a response to the tariffs, not a “what will happen when they hit”. They got out in front and rather than raise prices on existing products released “new, better” products at a higher price. Grizzly has always been one of the lower priced “ok” (on...

    Mitering bandsaw

Those are nice units, made in Italy right? They run over $2k I think. I will say a mitering saw in general is a game changer. Import, Ellis, HEM, Hyd Mech...all will be much more useful than a fixed 90 degree saw. I would encourage the OP to step up to the best unit he can find/within budget...

    Mitering bandsaw

They are all basically the same machine. If you get one I would say go for the cheapest available, likely the Grizzly. I have had the Northern Tool version for several years now. For what it costs, it’s not that bad. I don’t think Northern still sells them though. It cut pretty square out...

Is Snap On COMBOSQ3 a re-branded Starrett combination square?

Ok, I just double check and I paid $102 for an 18” Starrett set like you posted . I will say the 18” is nice. I use it or the 6” now.

Is Snap On COMBOSQ3 a re-branded Starrett combination square?

If your trying to support the greater cause, but new Snap-On/Starrett. If your trying to get by like the rest check out eBay. Starrett combo squares can be had for cheap and don’t wear out (to a point). Their satin finish is nice. I think I paid $50 for what you linked to.

    Removing stubborn bolts / nuts?

I too acquired a plasma before a “real” torch. If I could trade my plasma for a torch as my first purchase I would all day, much more useful. 4x4 van is bad *** by the way. I mountain bike a lot and have wanted to build up a badass camper/bike shuttle 4x4 diesel van. Sent from my iPad...

    Removing stubborn bolts / nuts?

Seeing your in Asheville, is this a California van? I’m in Bristol and we still get rusted suspension components in the region, but not like the north east. If it’s “not rusted” have you exhausted all other options such as using a cheater bar or torque multiplyer?

    Removing stubborn bolts / nuts?

In my experience, if that propane is not accompanied with oxygen it will have little effect. Without seeing your specific application I can’t recommend anything, but straight propane or mapp gas has not really helped me in the past on stuck nuts. Put oxygen to that and It’s a different...

Hi there everyone hope all is well, how did everyone get into collecting tools ?

My father started me young.... He bought me a small "kids" workbench from 84 lumber and some cheap hand tools when I was in 1st grade or so. I got my first powertool, a craftsman 7 amp (the old plug in to recharge kind) rechargeable drill when I was in 2nd grade. In 3rd grade my first power...

    What is this? Lathe?

Or a pieced together horizontal mill, either way it is some kind of clapped out homebrew project. The motor and gear box could possibly be used for some useful function depending on condition and speed....

    Zoro tools treated me right.

I have had good luck from Zoro too, there shipping is impressive, I just wish there site was easier to navigate. They definitely seem to have the best prices on industrial gear at the moment. I have also noticed that items I order from vendors other than Zoro on Amazon are actually coming...

    Baileigh benders

I cant speak for that bender but a lot of what they sell appears to be the same import stuff available from Jet/Shop Fox/Grizzly while others are actually rebadged american made gear. I would say that break is the former. I do however own a Baileigh magnetic break that has been awesome. Its...

    DA Sander Recommendation?

This is what has me stuck. That's a lot of money for a sander. I looked into the AirVANTAGE sanders dnschmidt mentioned, and they are a dead ringer for the older 3M sanders. I didn't even know 3M got out of the game!!! They are selling the brushless DC sanders for $300 with the power supply...

    DA Sander Recommendation?

I am running the same one with a flap wheel, its a hog. Bit of a different tool, it can gouge the surface real quick.
