    Garage Door Opener

Yeah you can get liftmaster residential trolleys - they're made of HSS angle and yup they're strong like bull. Chamberlain retail box rails are fine however - if you have an insulated glazed carriage house door weighing 600+lbs then maybe you need to look at the dealer rail. 98% of the doors...

Long strand carbon fiber filament - might be the ticket... Which differs from a lot of the CF filaments that are powder / <1mm strand. Where to find it lately is the question - I used to have a local supplier who carried it under their house brand. . The long strand makes the finish...

Half assembled, ordering up some 6061 flat bar for final build. Going to add a U shaped saddle to tie another set of mgn12c bearings above and lock it all together.

    Sealing Tilt Open Garage Door?

Usually there's a pair of trim plates that mount to upper half of the door extending onto the jamb, and lower half of the jamb (from pivot down) that the door closes against. I've added foam tape to those before to improve the draft seal for those of us in northern climates. Personally I hate...

Iterating my way to a mount for this new spindle on the 3018 (?3040 I guess since it's extended Y axis now) The fun now is trying to tweak it into something I can build at home in aluminum plate. I still love that I can iterate parts from sketchy measurements until they fit correctly and try...

LOOKING FOR TOOLBOX DRAWER LINER IDEAS

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B085XS64FG/?tag=atomicindus04-20 Makitoyo from amazon - no smell, I like it - lays flat, no taping down - it just stays where it belongs. and 25$ cdn for 16' is cheap enough.

    Advice: garage cabinet options

I'll be the outlier here and say the Craftsman cabinets at Lowes are pretty decent. And they've got pretty much coordinated stuff to match across the board - workbenches, storage systems etc.

PVC conduit used for pressure pipe?

As mentioned above - PVC isn't rated but it's rate of degredation is pretty slow. And of course - a couple cans of krylon can make it look less awful + add some uv protection ;)

What's the right fix method - wrong size garage door opening?

Call the door guy ;) Swap the bottom panel from a 21 to a 24, adjust top fixtures - depending on installer might have to lift trolley a smidge. You won't have full 7'3 clearance if you have struts but... Wait no carriage house - nope unless it's a fiberglass - you'll need new door.

Door opener for super low headroom?

Pics would help. Typical trolley Opener mounted beside the track has been done more than once in this type of scenario. https://www.sommer-usa.com/store/p13/Side_Mount_Kit.html Just linking to the one commercial offering I remember - there's a few options out there.

My CR10 moved 700ish miles in a uhaul with just the electronics box disconnected. Even had a spool still on the holder. Ok so it's got the redi-rod stabilizers and squash ball feet, but basically stock. Yes required some work to square/level after, but nothing more than semi-annual maintenance...

    Garage Door Tension Help

Likely not - however if they're not fully seated down this could be your struggle. They do slide onto the egg shaped shaft - and there's an amount of splined shaft that needs to be exposed to work correctly. Likely you're halfway there just not quite fully there.

    Garage Door Tension Help

Sounds like a torquemaster as mentioned above - dare I ask how you removed tension in the first place? Anyway - you tension with a drill. However you might need the winding hub depending on which generation of door you have - its been a few years but I seem to recall you could do it with a...

So prepping the 3018 for apartment life (and ratsnest control) Cable chain came out "meh" lots of cleanup on the edges. Then it goes and kicks out almost perfect squash ball feet - no changes, same filament - but it's been out in 90% humidity all day printing the cable chain parts. I'm...

    Quiet shop-vac

Yeah that I expected sadly. I'm spending the afternoon trying to get some understanding of how many CFM I need for this - Because there's a couple quieter "house" vacuums for decent prices that combined with a dust extractor might just do the trick; and they can be found for a little less $...

    Quiet shop-vac

Cleaning up - Aluminum and wood chips flying off the CNC router mostly. Yeah, I'm guessing I'm going to have to do a vented box for both the CNC and the vacuum to try to manage the noise of both. But figure if I start with something quieter - it's going to end up easier to end up with a...

    Quiet shop-vac

Looking for some ideas - need a small vacuum for my little desktop CNC. Biggest factor involved here - is noise; It's at my desk, live in an apartment - so a 80-90db howler running for hours isn't going to fly... Anyone have some thoughts as to what might work / be able to be quieted...

No this one's all about tearing up hundred dollar bills while throwing plastic parts in the trash can :) For something fine detail like that - I'd start with a .30 nozzle (.20/.25 is REALLY finicky on most machines) And something in the .08 layer height. Machine really does need to be dialed in...
