    Peg Board Tool Organizers

Check out wall control offerings - nice punched / finished steel pegboard (with slots added). Ikea has its skadis - cheap more of a fully laminated fiberboard of slots - but standard pegboard stuff doesn't fit. There's all kinds of stuff out there, just depends on what you're looking for.

    Garage Door issue

Done right - springs can't rub as they're stretched slightly at full tension - so there's no coil to coil rub. Some people go insane with the lube, it's not really needed. It's all microfracturing - while there's some argument for oil tempering, it requires heat. Cycle life is what it is...

Strange problem with LiftMaster garage door opener

Likely not gear - because then you'd have motor running and no Traveller movement. Not a fail after inches. Rpm sensor maybe?

Cost to move my 4-post lift 500 miles?

Will it fit on the flatdeck - depends on the deck, you'd have to talk to local shops as to what they can get away with for local laws. I wouldn't have thought twice about it (technically need wide load permit, but realistically, even our DOT officers would have said - send it, don't hit anything)

Cost to move my 4-post lift 500 miles?

When I worked in towing - we moved 4 posts assembled all the time on the flatdeck (as shown above). Most of the offshore ones fit on the deck... You may want to put a tape measure on and check outside to outside on the baseplates.

    Good drill bits for glass.

Yup, needs to be wet/cooled, probably best to check the how-to drill glass with a Dremel video on YouTube, I'm sure speeds will be addressed. But yeah cutting is a slow process because you're effectively sanding away a layer at a time.

    Soundproofing a big steel cabinet

Hi all, Hoping to lean on some of that institutional knowledge around here... https://www.craftsman.com/product/cmst24800rb/48-wide-freestanding-tall-garage-storage-cabinet-2000-series Want to tuck my 3d printers away for noise/smell/controlled environment al conditions reasons. I've got one...

    Good drill bits for glass.

Home Depot, harbour freight, just about everyone has this set... Use that long tapering bit to punch through then open it up with the big one to 1/8". Dremel or drill, just go slowish you're literally sanding a hole in the glass, vary pressure, yep running water is good. Built many aquarium...

Installing garage doors - DIY or hire out?

It isn't rocket science, it is very possible to DIY. Just need a good impact driver, tape measure and preferably a laser level. I do have to say... I can't count the number of Mondays/Tuesdays I've gotten a call from a wife who's husband thought this was an easy Saturday project... That said -...

    Peg Board Tool Organizers

Pegboard for quick access / frequently used, drawers for the rest is my school of thought.

looking for feedback on garage door noise

Wayne dalton - probably a 9100. The hinges are pre-installed from the factory - and often are very much like that. But they've got generally enough movement to allow 10deg or so misalignment. What's the outside face look like? is there any creasing near the rabbets (where the 2 sections meet)...

    The Everything 3D Printer Thread

Yeah, but I want to keep the consistent look in the house. I'd end up with that investment alone in paint/shop supplies just to make it almost match. So end of the day - modifying one that matches from the start - makes more sense. I'm better at integrating than finishing anyway :) And having a...

    The Everything 3D Printer Thread

Figure this might be better place to ask... Decided it's time to expand the printer farm again. And deal with noise/smell/safety/environment issues all in one fell swoop. Planning to put the printers (CR10 and a couple Mars') in this...

    Garage Door Bottom Seal Gap

it's what my eye sees. with 22 years in garage doors now (started in 2000). There's 2 ways to install a door; typically plumb/square - in the picture the gap between door panel and track looks to be expanding. Could just be the picture, but if the tracks plumb, means door face itself is off...

    Garage Door Bottom Seal Gap

Overall picture? Something's off - bottom roller is higher than it should be, and unless they taper tracks out, looks like left side is low if you follow "typical" install guidelines...

Quick Google maps search... Figured I'd throw in a picture to add some idea of the angle for comparison.

Lawn mower for a really steep yard?

Old belt drive ransom 42" Used to cut a condo in my youth you couldn't stand on the slope, but at a fast walk you could sidehill nicely with the ransom. Just be ready to grab clutch and turn 180° downhill if something got awry. The hydrostat upgrade resulted in tumbles and fences getting replaced.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

No garage but garage-mahal living room 😂 Kiddo didn't want a white command center (loft bed w/ desk) dad hates painting... He thinks it's easy 😂 or so he thought. Apparently it's not so easy 😜
