I was thinking as I looked at the pictures that maybe this vfd will never be worked hard enough to get warm but there sure isn't much ventilation for it in that little box. Most vfds have a diagram that shows recommended clearance on all sides and this one definitely does not fit those...

I wouldn't call the shallow drawers a problem but it all depends on use. I need more shallower drawers. I hate using a 4" (100mm) drawer for stuff that is only a couple inches or less tall. It's wasted volume, imo. But each person's use case is different.

If you're already that far gone, just drill it with a right hand thread, then decide if it needs some sort of insert

Consider the force vectors with them raised. The vertical legs are just that, almost vertical.

If you just wrapped up this build, it seems like you should have considered this need before building it. I think I would treat it the same as I would if it was solid dimensional lumber
