    Tools from the old world

Picked up a couple Garant Swiss-made 0.3×2.0 slotted drivers today. No other sizes available, sadly. They look like PB Swiss to me.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Do you need a vise? Plan to flip? Or just want to rehab a vise? Personally, since it is missing the swivel base and all associated hardware, the collar, and front jaw is FUBAR, I would pass. There is a reason it has been for sale for months, it's a parts vise.

    Anyone else like Channellocks?

Picked this up off marketplace today. Did a quick search didn't see much in the way of Channellock signage. Channellock Authorized Distributor sign. Made of blue plastic w/ red insert and gold lettering, approx. 9.75" tall × 7.75" wide. In very nice shape, just a few scratches, mostly on the...

    Stuck on Columbian vise rebuild.

Solid pins are installed and bent down onto the nut to hold it in place. If you just stick a roll pin or a screw in the hole, the nut will be able to move back and forth, adding slop to the vise.

Old Matco ratchets by Wright tools

There was a post about this years ago I seem to recall reading, that there were minor differences in the 2. I love Wright tools but they don't offer a long 1/4" ratchet; there was a Matco variant. They aren't common but pop up on eBay from time to time, and always got bid up fairly high back...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

That one just has the wing nut and washer. It should have a swivel base like this photo.

    Combination Squares

I love vintage stuff BUT i have a blem PEC 4" double square that i got new for something silly like $14. There was a marking on the blade that looked to be gently pencil ground off. I ran a fine stone over it, no burrs. Slides nice and yeah the chrome is brighter than old stuff, even nos stuff...

    Combination Squares

At least Starrett and Lufkin have been offering plain and satin chrome rules since the 50s, maybe earlier. I prefer Lufkin's chrome but Starrett is not bad. My Pratt & Whitney 24" combo blade is satin chrome.

    Ebay Experiences?

I've had a couple experiences on eBay where I've not gotten the item pictured. Always a hand tool. Always from a pawn with an eBay store. One time I hit BIN on a nice older Mac 24" 1/2 breaker bar with knurled grip. What arrived was a nice modern Mac 24" 1/2 breaker with the trilobe grip...
