Building the You Tube compressor intake silencer--read before you build!

I used to have a sixty gallon upright husky that was loud. One day when it was running I found that a garden hose fit neatly into the little air intake opening. It was a piece about three feet long. The intake noise dropped significantly. I didn’t get around to doing any more testing it, but...

Could I modify a motorcycle gas tank with a wire feed welder?

You could, preferably using an argon gas, not flux core. The overlapping tacks with cool down between the tacks will minimise distortion.

Thats it! I building my own base cabinets for tools and making some lista vidmar style

Your goal is admirable for sure I am all about learning new things too. What is the driving goal, the learning or having the cabinets? If it’s having the cabinets finding and buying some, then possible refinishing them would be a more viable option?

    Cheap thread locker

I recall reading that it took locktite a long time to come up with a breathable plastic material that allows oxygen to pass through it, so the half filled bottle is an alternate solution I guess.

Help me buildout my home dream home detailing studio: Soundproofing and general questions.

Give the length of the workshop area, some type of curtain to close in the work area may help contain the noise. I also remember when I toured Graceland there was room that the walls and ceiling and floor were covered with a heavy **** carpet to counteract the noise haha

Evapo Rust (and similar products) and flash rust after use?

If you google flash rust inhibitor, you may find some products near you. This is only temporary though, not a substitute for a more permanent treatment. Regarding the black residue, I clean it off with a stainless steel tooth brush and rinse with water that works pretty well,

I went in the Australian website. Took and passed the quiz. They never asked where to sent to the free sample to. I never knew about active metals before this, so I guess I still win.

Rust removal of 100 year old parts with citric acid bath

Final update. Here are the results of two more days in the bath. I’m happy with the results, declaring this a win. Cleanup is a chore with some wire brushing needed to take of the black residue. Interesting the high carbon parts tend to generate more of the black gunk than the mild steel. I am...

Rust removal of 100 year old parts with citric acid bath

Well 24 hours later… The rust is dissolving, but I thought I would spice up the bath, since the deeper rust pitting removal is slowing down. I followed the mixture ratio recommended by backyard ballistics, so that equates to 60 grams soda to 150 grams citric acid powder. This time I mixed them...
