Washing machine makes panel intermittently buzz

I wonder if you've just got a noisy breaker. Do you have another you can swap in?

Water supply copper vs PEX vs PVC

I have a variety of Sharkbite caps in my plumbing kit to temporarily block of stubs but I haven't used them as a permanent repair anywhere. I find them kind of pricey and I just can't get myself comfortable with them. I think that says more about me than the product. I really like the looks...

Is there a way to reduce extension wobble?

I'm not clear on why wobble is a problem. Most of my extensions are Snap-On so they may have less wobble than others but I have never even thought about how much they have, let alone, run into a situation where I thought I needed to reduce it.

Am I still able to use these old clunker tools?

I think one of the things that's keeping the value of that older equipment down is that if you work on enough older vehicles to justify it you can buy a new, high quality timing light that as good or better than the old ones. I have one of these As far as far as the engine analyzer is...

Trailer brake and light tester, anyone make one?

If the trailer has brakes it should have a battery for the breakaway switch.

Limited lathe speeds on a 17" x 77" engine lathe

For your intended usage that should be fine.

Trailer brake and light tester, anyone make one?

Testing trailer lights is one of the few uses I've found for my power-probe. As far as testing brakes is concerned I just pull the breakaway switch. WIth it pulled the brakes should be locked and a 12v test light on pin two of the 7 way connector should turn on.

They don't need to be anything exotic. 1018 is fine. There's no need to heat treat either.

Building a manual transmission diagnosis fixture / jig, need electric drive motor advice.. how many HP's ?

I think you'll find that you're going to need closer to 5hp than 1hp particularly if you're going to run it at a 1 : 1 ratio with a VFD. Using back of the envelope math a 1 HP, 4 pole 3 phase motor running at 1000 RPM is going to be capable of providing 0.55 HP. Back of the envelope math...

    Aids for Lifting Heavy Items

I use a motorcycle lift as my primary workbench. I can roll something like a generator right up on it. Link to picks of my motorcycle lift with things that aren't motorcycles on it. I also use my engine hoist and if necessary I borrow a teenager from a friend or neighbor.

    Catastrophic air compressor explosion *warning*

I think the point is that when it needed a repair that should have been taken as a clue that it was time for a replacement. Yeah the repair wasn't the failure point but if there's one spot that needs a repair their are likely others. Looking at the screen capture above it looks to me like it's...

The Flex Head Ratchet Thread - Locking vs Not - Discussion

I have non-locking SnapOn flex heads in 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2". I have multiples of the 1/4" and 3/8". They are my go to ratchets. I have never once thought that a locking version would solve a problem I have.

    Internal npt thread repair

If I just wanted to fix it and get on with life I'd use LOCTITE® PC 3967 Form-A-Thread. If I wanted something that looked pretty I'd bore out a hole, TIG in a plug, machine the weld flat, drill and re-tap or, if I was just going to plug it I'd stop after the machining process

I think that's true to some extent but in my case I think it just gave the thieves better light to work by when they stole my trailer.
