Monte: I can see some of your pics now, others half load then the remainder is grey. It changes each time I view the thread too. Maybe its just my internet connection! Also, do you know if Stahlwille make socket rails? Im sure I've seen some green ones than stand the sockets up as opposed...

    Tools from the old world

I dont know if its just me Monte, but I cant see your latest pics. A heads up for the UK guys, B&Q (at least my local, Culverhouse Cross, Cardiff) are selling NWS VDE stuff at about half price. Just picked these up for around £10 each. Annoyingly, the waterpump pliers I got a week or so back...

That shop is awesome Monte, I wish there were more places in the UK that offered walk-in good brands off the shelf.

    Sometimes the wife doesnt understand.

I think im the same. I don't mind scratches etc from use, but when I damage something through my lack of coordination I am annoyed at myself!

    Tools from the old world

Ive been taking pics of my power tools that are made in Germany or GB, got quite a few I now realise! Ive been making great use of these in the week of kitchen fitting tiling etc!

Epiphany, thats a really nice set! My spanners arrived today :) Still no camera so please excuse the iphone photos. They even sent me a mug! My spanner racks arrived from Snap On, annoyingly my garage is about 10 miles from their UK place, but they still insist on posting things...

Well nothing showed up yesterday, and it looks like no post today, so I should be having everything come on monday! Itll be like christmas! I did pick up a couple of these though, just to keep me going: Ive had a look around for Assistents, and straight from Germany seems to be the cheapest...

    Tools from the old world

I nearly did, but having bought the 1/2 set, I though I best not get a 1/4 Metric set too!

    Tools from the old world

Well, the AF Stahlwille set is on its way to me. Should be at my garage on Monday. Now, just need someone from Germany to work out getting an Assistent to me and I'll be sorted :D

    Tools from the old world

They do look nice. I like the idea of European tools over US too, given I live in Europe, in much the same way most Americans seem to prefer SO tools. Unfortunately Britain has, for the most part, seemingly run out of good tool makers. I was concerned I might buy what, for me at least is a...

Yard sale FINALLY found larger old vise

I'd be pretty happy with that. Assuming youre notes are the same size as ours (I'v never seen one!), thats just the kind of vice I'd like to find! I cant imagine that chunk missing having an affect on the vices performance, but I wonder what the hell happened to take it out. Some rust...

Haha very true! I do like the look of the German ratchets, I think I've just become accustomed to the SO style. I've just never used a Stahlwille ratchet, so thought I best ask :D Oh and I don't use Metric at all often. I thought if I got my AF set up all sorted, I could add metric sockets...

    Tools from the old world

While work is good and I'm upgrading tools, I was thinking of getting an SO 1/2" ratchet. on the SO site, thats £125. Looking around at Stahlwille again, I find this set for £200. To me, this seems the way to go, as I could retire/upgrade my sockets at the same time. It's essentially...

Aza, on your recommendation I had a trip to B&Q. Got the last set of water pump pliers, and now my set is complete :D It'd be cool if NWS did a bigger waterpump plier too, I'll have to check their site :D I've promised suz a couple of weeks away next month, so these purchases are now fully...

My long Weras did have rubber caps on the ends. They came in a bag, rather than retail packaging, so I guess thats why. I almost want something to need mending now :p

    garage build

I don't know if its the design or the photograph, but there's something very appealing about the look of that framework!

B&Q, and they have the VDE waterpump pliers in stock in Cardiff. Not sure I want to pay £28 for them though. I only really want them because they match :D

On the other side it just says Supadriva. Never heard of it before, it just lives in the penpot on my desk. I can't find my digital camera, so heres the long Wera tips the best I can manage with an iphone. They don't have the anti slip tips like the shorter ones which disapointed me a little...
