WTB: SO 1/2" SAE sockets to UK

Hey, I wonder if anyone over in the US can help me out. I'm looking for a set of Snap-On 6pt 1/2" drive SAE shallow sockets. Used is best, and they'd need to be posted to me here in England. Imperial stuff doesn't seem to show up a lot here in the UK, while eBay has Metric all day long...

    Tools from the old world

It's been a while since I checked this thread, I've had a lot to read through. That's probably a bad thing, lots of nice stuff posted! I'm parting ways with my Stahlwille socketry, I have too much tripled up stuff! I have got some more Wera and NWS stuff on the way though :D

    What brand of screwdrivers?

I have both Snap-on and Wera and really like both brands. The Wera are really cheap for how good they are.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I can finally post in this thread! Picked up a Record No.3 last month. Since mounted on to my bench :) Record No.3 Made in England by bcjamesmini, on Flickr

Let's See Your Recent eBay Purchases!

Finally sorted myself a decent vice. Wasn't a bargain price, but its in great condition, super smooth, and the jaws are near brand-new, so over-all I'm more than happy! Record No.3 by bcjamesmini, on Flickr Record No.3 Made in England by bcjamesmini, on Flickr Record No.3 Open Jaws by...

Stahlwille Wrenches "Stronger Than Any Bolt"

I've used various metric or imperial to get them undone, although my personal car is all standard so it's nice having a longish spanner just for that purpose. :) By the time they were sold under rover, I think they used what ever nuts and bolts were laying around!

Stahlwille Wrenches "Stronger Than Any Bolt"

I bought a set too after Moose highlighted them in the old world thread. My second purchase from Mark and I'm sure more will come as funds allow. The 15/16 is perfect for the sump plug on mini's, so it was well worth the purchase just for that!

Tools that allow you to beat book time (or work faster)

Multiple ratchets, each set up with a different socket size you are using. I even do this at home to make things easier.

Need help finding Torx screwdriver set.

I really like my Wera ones. Oddly, since they have the same handles, I seem to prefer my wera Torx more than the normal screwdrivers.

Would you own a purple tool box?

I'd like a purple one! I'm thinking of respraying my show car purple.

    socket set?

I mainly use snap on stuff, but half my 1/2 stuff is stahlwille. It's every bit as good as snap on, and very nice to use. It's not as shiney but that somewhat adds to it's appeal. My vote is for stahlwille.

    Channellock Oil filter pliers?

I'd also be interested in some. Channellock is quite hard to find easily over here!

What do you think of gearwrench tools?

I've recently picked up some halfords (British store) branded gear wrench ratcheting wrenches. My normal wrenches are stahlwille, and these do feel a bit cheap compared to them. That said, they seem good for what they are, and they were cheap on sale. I used the halfords regular wrenches for...

Post a picture of your ratchets!!

How thick is that Bahco Monte? The head is very compact! Here are my main ones. Stahlwille and snap-on 1/2s, snap-on 3/8s, and a snap-on eurotools 1/4. I have some cheap 3/8 flex heads too that I bought to try. I've ordered similar models now from the SO dealer but he hasn't called me...

    Tools from the old world

Most of my pliers are insulated. I like the chunkier handles. Also, it means I only need one set for pretty much anything I'll encounter, automotive or about the home. I'm no pro mechanic, maybe I'd have both if I was :D

Do you think 1/2" drive chrome sockets are all that useful?

I don't have a decent compressor, thus no impact tools, and my 1/2 stuff has never let me down. I use a good mix of 1/2 and 3/8, the latter a bit more.

    Show off your Screwdrivers!!!!

Here's my screwdriver drawer. I keep thinking about changing it all to matching SO, but in reality this set up has never failed me. The only thing I need to add is a #3 Phillips.

    Tools from the old world

I just reread my previous post and it wasn't very well constructed! Anyway, 13s work out at £7 each, 14s at list are about 50%+ more, since I cant find a set, only individually. As moose suggested to me, I'll try contacting some stahlwille sellers on eBay :)

    Tools from the old world

I must admit I don't have a huge experience of different brand wrenches so the 14s have never felt particually long to me in the short sizes, and in the sizes around 1 inch the size felt nice. That said, the 13s do seem 'normal' length. They work out about £70 for an 8-19mm set, so I think I'll...
