    drywall primer and paint

I have always textured and then primed. I have heard of mixing the primer with the texture but can figure that one out. If you look real close there are gaps between the texture (duh) so how can that provide better coverage than rolling it on after????

    Another Drywall Related Thread..

So you want something with the same properties as drywall and yet it must be cheaper than the most common building component in North America? I feel if a product exists then we would all be using it.

    Torsion spring

[/B] X 1000! I have these (ez wind is the commercial name I believe??). Could not be easier to wind these springs. I am not joking when I say it take 3 min to set these. I actually adjusted mine the other day cus I thought its was too light. 1\2 socket in the drill 30 seconds later and I have...

Leave exposed roof sheathing or put felt on in windy area

Mine was exposed for a week before I could get the shingles on. Thankfully it did not rain or snow (it did 8 days AFTER the singles were on) so it was no big deal.

Drywall to edge of garage door opening?

I added drywall under the track with no ill effects. Shouldn't be a problem. I just removed all of the brackets one side at a time with the door down, slid the drywall under the track and reinstalled the brackets.

    Liftmaster 8500 partially open?

Am I crazy for wanting a carport over a garage?

After looking at you picture I retract my statement about shoveling snow out of a car port, most of the ones you see around here are actually more like a lean-to with some kind barrier along the back and side.

Am I crazy for wanting a carport over a garage?

If you get snow then yes, you are crazy to want a carport. I would rather a concrete pad that you can shovel snow OFF of rather than a car port you would have to shovel OUT of.

    Wall striping question

Also remove the tape while still wet if possible. I had to do 2 coats and the first one was pretty much dry but the second one was still wet

    Wall striping question

No need to paint the edge, just use a credit card to "seat" the edge of the tape and you will have little bleed thru. The little bit you do get you can touch up with an art style brush. 24hrs is enough time to wait as well.

Installing exhaust fan in the shop question.

Ive been thinking about doing this as well. Cant you just exhaust into the attic. Its not gonna be high humidly so moisture shouldn't be an issue like in a bath room.

Is this a common practice with drywall?

Yes the "****" joints would be easier to see but there should only be 2 or 4 in the whole length of the wall, opposed to 6+ (assuming longer than a 12' span, if less than 12 there will be no "**** joints"). I can only think of 2 walls in my house that are more than 12' straight runs of...

Is this a common practice with drywall?

I was always taught to hang horizontally as well for all the same reasons listed above. Less seams to mud and I was told as the eye scans the room from left to right it is harder to notice one seam running parallel than several seems running floor to ceiling. Also it would seem that the mfr...

    So jealous today, feeling.... inadequate.

Go a couple years without a garage at all, it will make you appreciate what you have. When we moved in to this house it had no garage at all (wtf?!?! where do you put the lawn mower????) Here I am 5yrs later and Im just putting up sheetrock on the attached 2car I built. Ya, they might make them...
