Lifts, Complete Hydraulic good or bad

I beleive ALI will test any lift someone submits. The only place the ALI has a value is in the US, on an international level nobody cares and it does not help sell lifts. This is not a free test, and adds cost to every lift which carries the certification. The more expensive lifts have...

Lifts, Complete Hydraulic good or bad

I can't say everything being imported has had some sort of ISO9000 or TUV certification, but the better ones do. I consider the SL10000 one of the better lifts being imported today. There is no reason to base your decision of this lift with the fear that it could fail because it does not...

    Tankless Water Heater

I was speaking more towards the electric units, and if yours have been trouble free then you have softer water than what is common up here. The harsh enviroment I was refering to was the specific area where the heating element has to go form ambient temp to hot (what do you have it set at 130?)...

    Tankless Water Heater

I've recently had to replace my hot water heater. I considered a tankless unit, but ultimately decided against it. I have an oil fuel boiler. I decided to replace my indirect fired hot water heater. It is only a 40 gal tank, but since it is an indirect fired unit- it can always stay ahead of...

    Hypothetical lift question

The Powerrex lifts here in the States use American power units. My experience with the these lifts have been very good. If Direct Lift is the benchmark, Powerrex is a tier or two above those. I've installed plenty of each.

    Hypothetical lift question

You could def do this. If you read many of my posts, I really like these two SL10000 lifts by Powerrex. They have this great front arm which telescoped in 3 stages so you can load 50/50 or 30/70 (sym AND asym). This will give you the most flexability to locate a car or truck cab inbetween...

    3 phase electric ?

If the welder is rated for 230volt- I beleive the machine is designed to operate at voltages +/- 10%- so if you have between 253 and 207 volts, you should be okay.

    3 phase electric ?

Sounds like you've got a handle on what you've got to do. Even though you don't need 120, sometimes you need a neutral wire if the component has a 120 "control" component. For example a welder with a digital panel, probably has a 120v feed for the control. What I'm saying it to make sure you...

    Challenger lifts

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5546&highlight=challenger It seems like the links are broken, but this may be what you were referring to. Since I could't read myself, is the argument that the design of the arm is flawed and all these lifts are subject tot he same failure...

    Challenger lifts

http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/FACE/stateface/ca/03ca010.html Not that I'm lazy, but this is all I could find. It seems the fatality involved a lift from 1964. The Cause of the accident was an arm which slipped from its original position, not due to a failure in a weld. You must be referencing a...

    Challenger lifts

If the Challenger fits yor dimentions, I think you'll be happy. There are plenty of these lifts in commercial use, i would not be afraid of it. The fact is, I'm not aware of any lift currently on the market which I'm uncomfortable with. Cars falling off lifts because of inferior materials or...

    Benwil two post lifts

Yes, they are imported. Powerrex is sold all over the world. Different products come from different plants. I'm sure They can tell you which country of origin the product you are looking at if from. If I recall the SL10000 is from Korea. It's kinda like comparing a Korean car, like Hyundai...

    Benwil two post lifts

Well fellows, my experience with Powerrex is has been nothing but positive. I've been involved with catering to some high end residential garages around the Philadelphia area. Often times we install lifts into these home garages. I do not get involved with commercial installes because the...

    Benwil two post lifts

The Complete lift is actually made by Powerrex, although Powermax does sound better. Congrats or your selection! I think the Powerrex lifts are hands down the best lift on the market in the sub $3k price range. Their arms are superior in design and craftsmanship to anything else at that...

    Benwil two post lifts

I suspect that the lift did not fail due to poor design or manufacturing. A car more than likely fell off the lift due to improper loading of a vehicle. Are any facts about the acident available?

4" of 3500psi seems to be the requirement of most inexpensive lift manufacuters.
