    Milwaukee 2731 M18 FUEL 7 1/4" Circular Saw

Stand on a wall 2-3 stories up, lean out, and try and cut a rafter tail with a right side blade when you are right handed. Very hard to see your cut line. That's why almost all framers use Skil. (left side blade) And yes, we pin the guards when needed. (don't tell OSHA)

    Why Buy Snap-on?

Reminds me of the boss who had to pick between two framers for a job. The first guy has a $10 hammer and the boss asks him to show what he can do and the guy pounds nails at a steady pace and never stops. The second guy comes up with his $100 hammer and says I'll show you I'm better. He flips...

    Milwaukee 2731 M18 FUEL 7 1/4" Circular Saw

I understand what you are saying but since I am right-handed when I rip a board if the blade is on the left side I don't have to lean over the saw to see my cut line. To me a right-blade saw is actually more dangerous because I have to place my body directly behind the saw. I framed for many...

    Milwaukee 2731 M18 FUEL 7 1/4" Circular Saw

Blade is on the wrong side. I don't care how well that saw runs if I have to lean over and try and see my cut line. I use my Craftsman Pro 7-1/4 and the blade is on the left side so I can see my cut. Just like my worm drive.

Stainless Steel Toolboxes who makes 'em?

My stainless 40" set is Craftsman and it's made in Taiwan. Not true stainless because magnets stick to it. No rust after 4-5 years. Item numbers 10595 and 10600. (I think those are the numbers) I have magnets for labels so not being true stainless doesn't bother me.

Anyone else have a problem with phone speakers?

There is a company called Ballistic that makes phone covers. I have used them for years and my phone stays looking new even when I'm out in the field doing pickup work. (sheetrock, insulation, framing, plumbing, electrical, etc...) Been using them for 5 years and no complaints. Cheaper than...

    Tools for cutting circles

This^^^ I have done it many times and works great. Works great when you mess up and make a hole saw cut too small and you don't have the center of the hole for a pilot bit.

Sears Could Be Gone If Slump Lasts Through Christmas

I made $15.50 per hour selling tools in a medium size store. Large stores they make around $20. A large store appliance salesman who is a rockerstar can make $100,000+. I know. I was a manager.

    Kids Toolbox Dresser

I was working at Sears years ago and had a lady come in to buy a $800 tool box. I asked her what she was using it for and she said clothes. I was like wtf. She explained that she was buying it for her 3 year old son and that he would use it as a clothes dresser and when he got older he could...

Hammer Questions - Claw, Rip, Framing, etc

I frame with a Woody. Yes...it's a hammer. 22 ounces. T-style metal head that goes down into the wooden handle with 3 bolts connecting it. Too bad they don't make them any more. I could lift a 20 foot wall off the deck without breaking the handle. I used to use the California Framer 25...

    Craftsman tools on Ebay

There are many genuine sellers on Ebay. I have sold some tools because it was cheaper to buy a full set and sell the extras instead of just buying those items by themselves. I live in WA State. Takes a little time but sometimes I can get things for a better price or free because others need...

Something I noticed at sears today.

The red one had lifetime on case and spring. Just not the tape. And you are right. Too many people snapped off the end of the tape just to get a new one.

Something I noticed at sears today.

And for those that think "clicker type" torque wrenches are lifetime. WRONG!!! I have seen paperwork as far back as 1971 that states the same warranty that sears has today on them. 90 days calibration, 1 year warranty for breakage. I don't work there now (sears management *****) but don't...

Something I noticed at sears today.

The chrome cased tape measures are still lifetime no matter what. The yellow cased tape measures have the same warranty. The newest red tape measures stated on the label that they covered everything except the tape. Sears doesn't sell craftsman tape measures anymore so if you go in with one...

    Buying my first drill

I'm curious about the storing of lith-ion batteries at half charge. I have heard that but have never seen some real data on if it makes a difference. Why would I want to store batteries at half charge when I'm not sure when I need them? Doesn't make sense. I have lith-ions I have kept at...
