I've used the metal edging as well - but got mine from a local landscape/hardscape supplier. Actually though, a contractor did the install. They used a trencher to form the trench to set the edging into. I'm not sure there would be another option - unless you enjoy digging in gravel.

Take another cut perpendicular to the slot you've cut - or maybe use 3 more cuts to have either 4 sections or 8 sections. The more sections drawn together instead of 2 - will decrease the "taper" if that is a concern/issue.
