Cutting plastic on a table saw

Many ways to add an auxiliary fence to a table saw for more height. For something that short, a couple clamps & a piece of plywood would probably do. $15 blade...

Cutting plastic on a table saw

I would cut that in a heartbeat in my table saw. Good excuse to buy a cheap plywood blade. Needn't be carbide. Prob safest backward. If you're nervous about it, lower the blade height to just score it, then hacksaw the corners & snap off the field. Clean it up with a file or sandpaper.

    Compressor HP Question

I'm no expert, but it seems like vfd's rated for motors with a high start up load is a fairly recent phenomenon. I know in the brand I used, it was the GT series. Also, I think the old rule of thumb of 1/2 the rating for high start up load no longer applies. I would be interested if your vfd...

    I Gave Up.

It think you missed something in his post. I believe he did buy another digital caliper, just one of the quality that does not continue to consume batteries when it is turned off.

    Slab poured incorrectly

I don't understand how you did not end up with 7" of concrete at the edge. Did they not pour to the top of the forms? I do see one spot where there might be some dirt on the backside of that 2x8, but the majority of it looks like it's on top of grade.

    Compressor HP Question

Consider a VFD. Some are compressor rated. I put one on my 5hp 3ph Quincy almost 2 years ago & couldn't be happier. Pretty cool having a variable speed air compressor. Also programed a 5 sec ramp up speed so no big jolt when it starts up...

Attempted Highway Robbery by HVAC company

100x this. I hope no HVAC service truck owner ever questions a repair bill he gets on his vehicle. And yes, there is a mobile tire service locally that will come to you and install tires about the same price as a tire shop. With a truck & about 20k of equipment to do it.

So tell me if this concrete should be acceptable

Could you explain this more? Is it a problem? I'm assuming you can tell by the color, mine looks similar in spots.

Garage door with Jack Shaft opener question

Pretty sure the problem went on for about 3 years before Liftmaster finally started making good in 2020. I wouldn't call that a long time ago. Heck, I'm not even sure it's been long enough to be convinced that the issue is completely solved.

Do I need to drain gas from my generator?

This is an important question. Gas that does not contain ethanol is much better for storage. If you can shut off the fuel to the carburetor, then the fuel tank is no different than the gas can that people suggest you transfer it to. I consider it additional storage.

    Metal Roof paint

I'd bet that no one that commented here has any practical experience with what you are asking. Myself included. You need to talk to a professional, I'm sure its very doable. I will say this: 30 years ago I wanted to change the color of an aluminum sided house that I bought. People told me I...

    Metal Roof paint

Pretty sure metal roofs are painted all the time on commercial buildings. I remember years ago a factory rep (Majic?) telling me they supplied the red paint for Pizza Hut roofs. Those roofs are metal, no longer red, & still have the same type shingles, I'm sure they've been painted over. I...

    Window Film/Treatments for Garage Windows

One night last year, I needed to keep someone from seeing that my shop lights were on so I sliced a couple black garbage bags lengthwise & stretched them across the garage door windows with magnets. They let in/out some dim light & since I have plenty of Led fixtures, I've left them on ever...

Fireplace mantle and television mounting height question

When I mounted mine, I was told the bottom of the screen should be at your eye level while sitting. Years later no complaints, although I think a little higher would not be a problem. I definitely wouldn't go any lower.

Attempted Highway Robbery by HVAC company

4 years ago,, the A/C in the attic of my sister's 1000 sq ft ranch was on the fritz, so she called a local heating & cooling contractor for an estimate. $14,500 (!). I can't make that add up any way I do the math. Told her she needed to change to the new refrigerant. He didn't tell her that...
