Air Die Grinder and Angle Grinder recommendations/favorites?

This should have went under the "tools" thread I know, but the guys in this sub forum spend more time with these than anyone. That being said, I am in the market for some new grinders. I have been running a cheap "king" angle grinder, and a craftsman die grinder. The craftsman was junk out of...

    Home made metal brake.

Thought I'd share one of my bigger projects I have been working on lately..... Have to finish the back bow, and the leg tie downs that anchor to the floor. Other than those two items it is finished!

Cold Air return location on overhead air handler in shop

Which of the following would be best in an all around situation. I figured pulling the cold air from around the door would be good in winter but it adds to the length of lines that must be ran for electric, heat pump, drain, and thermostat lines. This being a shop that will be only heated on...

Any good quality cheap drill bit recommendations?

It is time to start looking for a new set of drill bits. I had a set of supertanium by premier, that set was around $400.00 new. They were the BEST bits I have ever seen. The last set I purchased was a set of jobber's length Milwaukee bits. Around $100.00. They were good but did not last...

    Storing pistol grip grease guns?

How do you store yours? Mine always turns to oil and leaves a puddle anywhere I hang/lay it.

Metal wall coverings, do they make the shop noisier?

Been debating on my wall coverings, white metal roofing looks like the cheapest, easiest way to go. My only concern is noise, I just picture myself beating on some metal inside of it and the building be ringing like a tin can. Any thoughts?

Screw and purling spacing on metal roof?

Just curious what you all have used? My metal manufacturer recommends 32" on a sheeted roof. Had several tell me that on 24" purlins they skip every other one and go to 4' on the screws.

Drip stop membrane on metal roof/purlins needed with vinyl face insulation?

My metal roof is on purlins, I have always been under the impression that as long as there was a good vapor barrier (vinyl faced insulation) between the heated shop and metal roof there would be no condensation. The metal guys are trying to sell me on metal that has a layer of essientally foam...

At wits end withleaking 1" brass fittings!

Well, at the advice of some members here I spliced my line from my well and installed a shutoff valve. Since my line had a dip in it between the valve and building I decided to add a ****** with a air hose fitting to blow the line out in the winter. So if you can picture this: Flow >>> 1"...

Oulet location for a two post lift?

Curious as to where/how your lifts are wired. I was debating throwing up a 240V outlet directly above one of the towers and dropping the cord down to it?

Tapping into well pump wire to feed heat tape?

At my well head the line is split and nutted off from installation. I need to run some heat tape on a line inside my shop through winter to keep it from freezing. Is there a constant "hot" 120V lead to the pump that I could tie into to wire in a temporary pigtail to plug an extension cord...

Ideas to keep pipes from freezing during construction.

Ran the line from my well to my building back in summer. Ran it under the slab and turned it up into a future wall. The end is stubbed out with a shutoff valve and 3 port pex manifold. I had planned to have the building up this fall and sealed off. It is now looking like that is not going to...

Squirrel Cage Fan as a Paint Booth Exhaust?

I have several large squirrel cage fans with motors. I have been debating enclosing one of these with a return and using it for my paint exhaust fan. If filtered properly do you guys see any issue with this? I know this is going to go down to safety/explosion proof fans, but if the motor is...

My 34 x 44 build with homemade steel trusses.

Little behind on getting pics up, but here is what has went on this year: Groundbreaking: Didn't like how low it set, so we raised the pad up: Formed up the stub walls and poured the floor, concrete work isn't perfect but it is ok considering I did it all and haven't spent any money for...

Thoughts on snow guards on 4/12 roof?

I live in WV, we receive quite a few inches of snow through the winter. My house has snow guards, and I often hear ice/snow slide down the roof. My house roof is metal and has a 12/12 and 7/12 pitch to it. My new shop has a 4/12 and 3/12 metal roof on it. Any of you other snow belters with...

Clear sealer for trowel machine finished concrete.

Just looking for a clear sealer to help with oil and grease. I do not want anything that will burn or show torch marks. I do a lot of cutting and welding and do not think epoxy/urethane/paint is going to hold up.
