First off here is the trailer: AND THE HACKED UP PART: UGHHH. Anyhow, I picked this thing up for 750.00, sold my old junker for 350.00, so I am in this thing $400.00. Pretty good start I think. This thing has a 2" - 7000 lb coupler, but I think it may have been added on later. It...

Any ideas for sealing up a lineset exit from the building?

All of them I have seen are holes through the wall with some silicone or foam. Have any of you all done some type of NICE CLEAN exit? FWIW, the linesets on my house were ran through cinderblock. I mortared a piece of pvc with the stone veneer and pulled my lines through it. then I fill it...

Curing Paint / Warming the Paint Room

I have been debating on this for a bit, and would like some input. I want to add some additional heat to my paint room. I had planned on adding a few infared overhead heaters to flip on after I am done painting and to help with snow melt from my tractor in the winter. I was painting in a...

Car Stereo to J-Pole Antenna, how can I connect them?

I am not sure how to splice the connection between the RG-58, or RG-8U cable, and the stock antenna plug into the back of the radio without causing a bunch of interfence due to removing the shielding. Any suggestions?

Should I have voltage on my earth ground?

I have 12 lights wire in parallel off of a switch. Today I unhooked the ground wire NOT the neutral....... and I got a little jolt out of it. When I hooked it back up, no voltage on it. I was expecting there to be no voltage when unhooked. I can stand there and hold it in one hand and my...

    Cutting an oxygen tank.....

I have an empty tank, been sitting now without fittings on it, wide open to the atmosphere for roughly six months. I need to cut the ends off of it, I will probably use a grinder with a cutoff on it. Do I have any issues?

Can I terminate a circuit at a switch?

I pulled an extra circuit into a room on the shop in case I needed an additional set of lights, heater, etc. It is a triple gang box with 2 other switches. Can I go ahead and wire it to the third switch? This would be the cleanest Or should I nut the ends and push it back in the box? Is...

Some Vintage Pipe Wrenches, anyone collect them?

I got these 18" and 24" vintage pipe wrenches. They are heirlooms and heavily worn. Not any good to me, thought if someone collected them I'd try to work out something with them.

2-12.5 amp infared heaters on a 30 Amp Circuit?

That is going to put me at 25 amps, I know it doesn't meet code, as fully loaded it would be running at 83% capacity. Regardless of meeting code, would it be safe to push the limits just a bit?

When does paint spray become "Non-combustible"?

I guess this is a question for a chemistry guy. When spraying, when is the material no longer combustible? Is it when the particulates are removed from the mixture in the filter? You can still smell the paint vapor exiting the fan, is it combustible?

Portable Paint Booth Filter - Have you guys seen this?

http://www.shop-pro.com/ Basically it uses charcoal and normal filters to clean the air before dumping it back into the booth. I am debating on building something similar for my booth, it would elimate any vaccuum from my main shop, and would not **** all of the warm heat out. It seems...

    Removing a body using a 4-post lift.

Is it possible? I like the 4 post because I can drive on it, and don't have to crawl under it to set the arms. With casters they can be rolled to a wall and out of the way. But, my main draw is being able to lift a cab, bed, or body off of a frame with a 2 post and the lower them back down on...

Need some help with duct work fittings...

My forced air unit has roughly a 8 x 21 opening on it. I would like to use the entire surface area of the end, 21x21 square and reduce that to like a 16" round spiral duct to feed the center of the shop. With 4 - 8" round turn downs. Run will only be about 16', and turn downs about 4'. I...

Any of you have a JD2 Tubing Bender?

ANOTHER, wfi to metal building issue, any reccomendations?

My building is 150' from my house. I have 4-5 bars (almost full) signal on 2 sides of the building. If I leave my garage door up, I have nearly full signal anywhere inside. The moment I close it, the building acts as a farad cage, and I lose it completely. Since I have strong signal to the...

Table Top, Drill and Tapped holes...Opinions?

As the shop build is winding down, I am starting to think about the "furniture". I will have 20' of 2' solid top work bench. I am also planning either a 4x10 or 5x10 Fabrication Table. I had intentions of drilling the top on 12" centers, and threading the holes for use of step clamps. My...

Double pole switches in lieu of single pole?

I found a lot of double pole 20 AMP switches for CHEAP.... 1. Can I use them in lieu of the single poles without any code violations? 2. When it is rate 20 AMP, does that mean both "legs" are rated for 20 Amps? 3. So I could switch 2 - 20 Amp Light circuits with it?
