    Good First Metal Lathe?

Something else to keep in mind is a lot of lathes will be 3 phase. Mine has a 5hp motor and needed a pretty stout (expensive) vfd to drive it. Or you need a rotary converter if you don't have one already.

Anyone does mobile auto repair diagnostics?

I'm lucky enough to have 2 friends with inspection machines so my cars roll in and roll out. They know that I keep my cars in good order and don't bother to look at them.

    Shop Window Height

I put my windows up high to be out of the way and to make it difficult for riff raff to see in.

Anyone does mobile auto repair diagnostics?

My brother brought his civic to the dealership for a recall and asked them to inspect it. They came out and told him it needed brakes all the way around and it will be $600 per axle. They were ornery when he said no, even more so when he told them he had just done the rears himself a few...

Anyone does mobile auto repair diagnostics?

I helped a friend put a ****** in a sentra at my house and it needed to be programed once installed. A guy came to my house with a laptop, hooked it up to the car and the internet, then messaged someone who remotely programmed it. Apparently it was some sort of service that had just about...

    Conex prices

Thanks, I'll try them. I'm a couple hours north of you so I expect to pay a bit more but one company that advertises locally quoted me $4500 for a one trip 20' today.

Can I ask who you received that price from?

Any Skyjack scissor Lift techs out there?

Will it not rise either or just not drive? If it will rise but not drive try manually releasing the brake cylinder below the step in your picture. You have to do both sides. Also you probably know this but it will not do anything if the charger is plugged in, at least mine is that way.

    9k versus 10k Lift

Personally I would buy a 10k lift and a certified one. I was going to buy this one before I stumbled upon a barely used rotary 10k just down the street from me. I'm not willing to take the word of a chinese manufacturer with something my life depends on. No affiliation with the company below...

Looking for details on gambrel trusses

I just checked my gambrel truss drawings and on mine they have a 10psf live load in that area. If you know where the trusses came from I'm sure you can ask them.

    WTF? 26" lug wrench?

Can't say I've had enough flats in my lifetime to worry about what wrench to carry. Where the hell do some of you drive lol?

    skimp on sheathing

Who knows what corners were cut if you didn't sit there and watch them build it. My neighbor had some siding blow off after a heavy wind. Turns out a high end house built in the early 2000's wasn't wrapped. I guess nobody was around to watch them that day....

Garage condensation nightmare - please help!

My shop isn't heated yet and if we had a cold night followed by rapid warming as soon as I open the garage door everything starts to sweat, even the floor. Warm moist air hitting cold things will do that.

    Two post lift problems

Your best bet is to pop off the cover on the motor and check for power there while hitting the button. On mine the overhead safety switch is wired in series with one of the hot legs. No relays.

    wifi and cell issue

Some outdoor rated cable has a drain line and can be grounded at both ends. I have a wireless link between the barn and the house along with a access point in the barn. With wifi calling enabled internet and cell works great.

Can I run MC (Armored) cable in a PVC conduit

Isn't it amazing how nonsense like this gets repeated over and over? Insurance protects you against your own incompetence and negligence, just not malice.

PEX confusion - is this just marketing?

Around here one Lowe's sells expansion fittings, the other 10 miles away does not. If I'm doing any project that is more than a handful of fittings I order from supplyhouse.com. Prices are good, they ship quickly and accurately and they don't give a **** what my day job is.

Pole Barn Post Repair System Video

That video made me glad I paid extra for perma columns a couple of years ago.

    Build your own roof trusses?

When my 30x50 was done the truss delivery truck had a crane attached. 2 guys plus the crane operator/driver set the 26 trusses in 2 hours.

Very slow connection with CAT6 connection between buildings

There can really only be one of 3 things wrong-the devices on either end, your terminations, or the cable. If you are sure the first 2 are fine pull a new cable.
