    RACEDECK Floors

I've been working on my Race Deck flooring the last two nights, and I'm about 2/3 done. There's so much dirt/dust out there that you can see every footprint, but it will really look great when cleaned and lighted well. My red tiles across the front are 12" but they hang over the ledge of the...

That looks good. I'm keeping my fingers crossed because of the humid environment too. I used a bunch of it, and it would be a pain to replace,

A little more progress this weekend, starting on the frame for our ground level deck. My '97 3/4 ton Suburban hit 250k this weekend -- and celebrated by hitching up to a U-Haul and making a round trip to Fort Wayne. Ponch is being rewarded by being the first vehicle allowed to spend a night in...

The weathered looking stuff is Dakota Prefinished Shiplap from Menards. It's basically an MDF laminate with the textured coating on it. They've got 4-5 options, and it was really easy to work with ($2.10 / sq ft) The wood in the gables and on the ceiling is tongue & groove carsiding, also...

It was a long weekend, working late Friday night to get ready for my third annual HERF on Saturday. All of the electrical and plumbing is now functional, and we had a great day, even though we had to wait out a couple stormy moments. Now the focus can turn to the garage side of the equation...

A lot got done this weekend. If I can get the ceiling up in the bathroom and make a couple plumbing connections, we should be ready to turn on the water and declare the poolhouse side open for business. Still a lot of trim and details, but pretty good to go. Then time to focus on the actual...

Glass garage door was my first thought, but it wouldn’t work the way the trusses were set up. Here’s what we ended up with. Got it closed up for a 30 minute thunderstorm that’s rolling through.

Instead of being out there all day, I’m in here all day, but I keep telling myself it’s going to be worth it.

Just got the counter in on the pool house side. I also talked to Menards, and they're going to let me pick up my ceiling panels at their Ohio distribution center. That means I should be able to put them up this weekend (so maybe my last couple days on the scaffolding - haha)

Got the rest of the cabinets up tonight and the oven installed. Countertop being delivered tomorrow. Also, we had to beef up the frame of our pocket door so that it could be covered with wall-board. Going to be a lot of stuff done in the next few days. TV has arrived and wall mount arrives...

I've been a little lax over the July 4 weekend, but we actually got a lot done. Refrigerator and stove arrived, did final measurement for granite countertop, and got most of the new electrical lined up and ready to go. Tonight we got some more cabinets up and finished the first big wall where...

Sometimes progress is slow, but real jobs get in the way. Back in May we picked out a piece of scrap granite from a local counter place. They have a "boneyard" out back, and if you don't need a big piece you can get some great options at the price of their cheapest stuff. Anyway, the guys are...

Got some more pine wall boards done this weekend. It went slower than expected, but I'm really happy with it -- a little surprised at how much I like it from the garage side. I was planning to put some kind of paneling up there, but now I think I'll leave it open with the backside of the...

Starting to geta better sense of things with flooring and walls started, with some cabinets in the picture. Today's snag is some plumbing. The drains were placed long before cabinets were determined, and alas, the sink drain is not behind the sink. Looks like Saturday is for reworking some...

Made a run to Menards today to pick up a sample of their PVC ceiling board. This stuff is confusing, so here's what I've learned: Trusscore - Made in Canada. You can order through Home Depot, or other outlets. Trusscore is the only one that can clearly addresses the backload strength of...

Today my wife got up on the scaffold and worked a little magic to stagger the pendant lights. One hour in the 100++ degree rafters, and she was done.

A lot of work on the pool house side of things this week. We still don't have electricity, as a storm knocked it out to thousands, and with a heat wave coming, I think we got pushed to the back burner. We got the ceiling almost finished with ceiling fan and lights up. Still need to source a...
