Yes I know, I'm aware of the negatives of not putting them away properly. No ether.. haven't tried starting fluid. 0.008 for exhaust and 0.006 for intake. My point I think was mostly missed, I'm just wondering if valve lash being out could cause these symptoms.

Oh no I'm flat out horrible with proper small engine storage. Fuel valve gets shut and I roll it into the shed. You missed some of what I mentioned in the OP, all of what you suggested is a yes except a new plug.

Thanks.. After a more thorough examination and some quality caliper time I did determine that -6/#6 is what's required here. Why the hell they have to have such a silly, and arbitrarily named sizing distinction, SMH.

Ah ****, yeah #5 SAE/OEB. The fractional equivalent to a #5 is what I'm trying to figure out. I had thought that a #4 was it, but turns out that a decent bit too small, measures .430 OD of the threaded section and what I need measures .555

Never mind! I got super lucky and found it. my shop has a sand floor because this part of Michigan is nothing but but sand. Starting later summer last year I am slowly concreting it in 2x2 and 2x3 sections. Nothing pisses me off more than dropping something only to have it land right in the sand.
