I have seen ants in a roof a couple of times. It could mean there is a water leak. Ants need moisture, dry out the roof, the ants will leave.

What is this Brown & Sharpe tool?

Picked this up at a sale, the tag they had on it says Caliper Gauge Measures Depth Metal Hole. At zero, the stem is extended to.75", when retracted it is at .25", so it has a range of 1/2". The back end looks like it should attach to something? Googled awhile but could not find this tool.

    Is this military anti-seize?

One thing that confuses me. The Mica has insulating properties, so using it on spark plugs would tend to insulate them from the engine? But don't the plugs need to be grounded to work?

    Is this water heater wrong?

Looks like a pinhole has rusted through. The white powder is the minerals in the water when it evaporates, and it also plugs the hole off and on. Eventually, it will get worse, and start spraying out.
