    Another BTU calc question

Thanks for the responses. For the estimates that I have received, two of the units were Reznor and the third was a Modine. Prices for the install was all pretty close at right around $2k. I ran NG out to the garage this summer so prices are for the heater, install of the heater/vent/ and...

    Another BTU calc question

I've read more on this forum than I care to admit but like so many others I am looking for opinions on BTU size for a hanging furnace in my newly built barn. I already have talked to 3 different contractors and used just about every BTU calc I could find but the numbers are all over the place...

Stuck on garage exterior lighting, need some help?

So did you cut the large rib into the PVC or did you notch the steel? If you cut the steel what did you use?

Stuck on garage exterior lighting, need some help?

Now that is a great idea! I was a little hesitant about using a block of wood as I didn't want to have keep it painted but this would last forever. I think I even have some of this PVC garage door molding lying around somewhere which is even better!

Stuck on garage exterior lighting, need some help?

Thanks for the links and the pictures guys. I'm still not 100% sure on what route I'm going to go but I'm leaning towards the LED pot lights in the soffits. If I do go with the barnlights I think I will do like Ray916M and add a second light to each door and then block the overhead door to...

Stuck on garage exterior lighting, need some help?

Just finished a 32x48x12 pole building and am doing to wiring now. My initial plan was too put can lights in the eves above the overhead doors, entry door and windows. I then come across these exterior barn lights from Menards, fairly cheap and I thought they would look good centered above all...

Old Bell for new barn, Restore or not? Pics

Just wanted to say I have enjoyed reading all the comments. I think, like most of you have said, that I would like to keep it in somewhat of a natural state. What if I wire wheeled the loose rust off and then coated the bell with rust inhibiter such at this...

Old Bell for new barn, Restore or not? Pics

Interesting idea with the cupola, I was going to mount it off the front of the barn somehow but I'm liking this! How ever I decide it will have to be a fairly stout setup as this thing is pretty darn heavy. It takes both hands and a fair amount of grunting to pick the darn thing up. I also...

Old Bell for new barn, Restore or not? Pics

I have come into posession of this very old bell that was once mounted on my Grand Parents farm long ago. Little history- When my dad was a kid my grandmother would ring the bell and all the kids would come running up from playing in the woods for dinner or whatever. Well my grandfather died...

How to get ready for you final inspection

Just finished running 100amp service to my new pole building that is 250' from my home and had it inspected a few days ago. I ran 2/0 Al MHF in conduit the whole way and then put an outlet and light in the pole building just for temporary use. Both panel covers were left of in the house and...

Best inexpensive way to cover inside walls of garage

Menards has the exterior 29 guage panels 3 x 16' for $27 a sheet, I'm placing an order now for the ceiling in my new pole barn. I then will frame inbetween the poles, insulate, and put 7/16 osb on all the walls.

RG11 to garage, how to tie in here?

Some good things to think about here; -From the street to my home the cable run isn't too long, maybe 125'. Then from the house to the garage is another 230' so hopefully this isn't to far. -I still plan on using the junction box where the cable enters my home. From this box the cable wire...

RG11 to garage, how to tie in here?

Alright you guys guilted me into it, I only have enough Cat6 for one run but will pick up enough for a second run and put it in at the same time. The RG-11 will be used to carry a cable signal to the barn. Honestly, due to me being sick of my cable bill going up I may cancel and never use it...

RG11 to garage, how to tie in here?

I have a 250' foot run to my newly built garage and I'm in the process of running all the necessities out there, gas, electric, Cat6 and RG11. To give myself the best signal I would like to tie into the cable box on the side of my house were the feed comes in. Does anyone see any problems with...

    Snow Blocks

This is exactly what I was planning on doing, although looking at the price of angle stock last night it appears I'm not saving much over the plastic blocks. I do like the idea of screwing this into to highs points rather than having more leak points screwed into the lows. LS6 Tommy - what...

    Snow Blocks

Just curious if your were screwed into the steel or the wood underneath? Tug Hill gets a ton of snow compared to my area, I am jealous!:D

Sadly they are the cheapest retailer out there for this type of item, any of the home stores are at least triple thier prices.

    Snow Blocks

I just finshed builded my 32x48x12 pole building and now I'm taking care of getting all the outside stuff done before winter. I have a metal roof and one of the things I want to do is get some snow blocks up so the snow doesn't slide down causing big piles in front of the overhead doors or tear...

Is this setup good for 100A garage panel?

Just got off the phone with both the electrical inspector and mechanical inspector, both had no issues with putting both in the same trench. The mechanical inspector just wanted some division so we agreed on 8-10 inches of fill between the two. I did find it odd that he did say the gas line...
