Hi i need help with extending my garage

What help are you looking for? Are you wanting to do this yourself and build a low wall underneath? Are you looking for a contractor recommendation? Did you talk to the local building dept to ask about max height? Is there an HOA that needs to sign off? Do you have/need/want an architect and/or...

Tool liquidation - I NEED ROOM

I'm sure Nashville has at least one well attended flea market. They'll rent you a table for a day, usually for something like $20. Haul a load of stuff, grab some stickers, a few donuts and a chair Price stuff when you get there. If you're "aggressive" about pricing, it'll be gone before your...

Excavator tore up my water line

That PVC/PEX was only put in to get them emergency water. "Later" is the water companies/excavators problem. I like the stick fix though. Maybe it'll catch on!

Are there any good Motorcycle batteries?

I'm unimpressed with quality batteries. The heat and vibration are killers. I've gone the opposite way. Cheapest battery Amazon has that day. I figure 2 years at $25 is better than 4 years at $90. But it takes five minutes to change out, including putting the wrenches back.

    Re-purposing hospital IV poles

That is a great idea! I may have to do something similar . . .

I built a wind chime that doesn't work!

Have you tried shortening up the distance between the disc and the branch?

    Re-purposing hospital IV poles

I made 4 at once. I have 3 more to work with. I'm thinking matching stools? They'll never tip over.

    Re-purposing hospital IV poles

So I came into possession of some IV poles being discarded. They are basically a small pipe welded to a half inch steel base. The base is made up of 5 "arms" welded together in a star shape, with a bend to lower the center of gravity. While everyone else saw trash, I saw opportunity! While...

    Whoop! Finally got a lift!

And after way too much time getting distracted, a trip to the hydraulic shop, and a dead car being parked over it in an inactive state, she finally lives!

Welcome back, Bakafish! I love the update. In hindsight, could you have hired a Japanese tradesman to float the ceiling, or is that a skill that simply isn't for sale there?

Craftsman warranty replacements for discontinued items

In other news, I have a 16 oz Craftsman rubber mallet (hickory handle) and the head is splitting on the axis of the handle, halfway between each head. I haven't abused it, but it is a hammer. Anybody have any idea what the mallet warranty is? My Google-fu is weak, and the Craftsman warranty...

    Whoop! Finally got a lift!

So after a long and frequently delayed process, I used naval jelly and a couple of wire wheels to get down to good metal. I primed it with the rest of a can of self etching primer, and a couple of rattle cans of Rustoleum rusty metal primer. For paint, I was intending to use Carson Blue to...

New pour, Cracked Footer, where’s my rebar?

Who designed it and called for the specs? Width, rebar, depth, height, PSI, etc.? Call him or her and let them know there is no rebar, and ask what they want done. Their name/license/title is involved, and they'll have a suggestion, nay, demand. Then YOU demand whatever they demand. What a mess!

    Surviving My Own Stupidity...

"Alarm fatigue" is a thing, and it's killed people. Ryan, again, so glad everyone and everything is "fine". It's already been said, but you may want to find a new way to alert you to these types of things. Also, since you don't have a fire suppression system in your garage, have you...

Tankless water heater size when used with conventional tank heater

This thread has some weird stuff in it. If it is at all feasable, go with gas. The only reason not to is if there is no gas to the subdivision (which seems odd in Pittsburgh). If you have to go electric, get a hybrid. Other things to consider: 1. You may have a bad element. Every real sized...
