Got it all back together and working.

I'm making better progress than I expected on the 17-600. Vinegar soaks and a LOT of scrubbing have been key. I still need to tap the repaired hub for replacement handles, refinish the table, clean up the motor and create a decal for the serial plate. Hurricane Irma was bearing down on us here...

Thanks but that's not the key I'm asking about. That's the one covered by the clip on the lower spindle. The one I am looking for appears to run in the slot of the quill - #120 in the parts diagram.

I'm nearly finished disassembling a 1963 17-600 DP and when I removed the quill I was never able to find the quill guide key. I guess it is missing from this machine. Does anyone have a picture of this piece? Is it just a rectangular piece of metal that rides in the quill slot? Thanks for any help.

Thanks. Missed that because nothing is indicated as "bearing" in the parts. Being too literal I guess. The spring works but everything seems heavy. Needs a good cleaning, new grease and oil. Looks like I'll be making tools and getting in trouble soon:headscrat
