24 gauge is going to be most common for longer runs, I wouldn't go smaller. I buy from Amazon and Monoprice, and I like both their cables. CAT6 as wizard says would be best, more for future proofing (if you ever get faster speeds than what you currently have) but CAT5e is about half the price...

OP is referring to the high beam indicator on the dash, not the headlights. OP, you might be on to something with the relay setup and originally intended for incandescent bulbs. If the setup is using solid state relays, the leakage current in them when in the off position (ie low beam)...

I have a 6" jointer that serves 80% of my woodworking needs. For the 20% (ie boards wider than 6") I built a planer sled that Metlmuncher refers to above, that will flatten a warped or cupped board. A bit more setup, but this works for a hobbyist like me.

I'd start by checking the connections at the outlets. I suspect there's a loose/bad connection at one of them. If you know the order how the outlets are fed from the panel, I would go in that order.
