Building with used / salvaged materials?

Would like to put up a 40 X 40 ish sized building in the next few years, and really don't want to go into debt for it. With the Ag economy in the ******* for the foreseeable future, I'm just not comfortable taking on and debt. Between myself and several friends who do concrete and pole building...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Fixed a tire on my disk. All of my wrenching was done out in the field today.

looking for a decent 7" angle grinder.

I've got 2 Makitas and a Ridgid. The Makita's have more power, but I do like the swiveling handle on the Ridgid, for out of position work.

Added a walker to my jacks

Cool jack! I've got the next newer version. At least it went to someone who appreciates it!

    Grease gun storage ideas

Mine are on spring clamps on tractors and in back of my truck. Slip empty 20guage shells over the tips to keep them clean. Ones in the shop hang on the trash can.

    Lights, headlamps, flashlights

I've got several Streamlights, and love them all. Microstream probably gets the most use, since it's always in my pocket. For a headlamp, I really like my Black Diamond Gizmo. Flood or spot options, with adjustable brightness. $16.99 at Cabelas Bargain Cave.

New life for former Vise-Grip plant

Looks like the mostly-unused former Vise-Grip plant may be back making tools again soon, but not Vise-Grips. The closure really hurt the town of DeWitt. Hope this goes through. http://beatricedailysun.com/news/local/article_515a46b1-569b-59b6-aa78-fcd612c52923.html Sorry....don't know how to...

    Particular Tool Addiction

Diamond Calk Horseshoe tools! Especially adjustable wrenches. Bet I'm approaching 25-30 of them, from 4" to 24".

    bearing separator

I have a MAC, which I suspect may be same as yours...bent mine all to hell pressing a yoke off a PTO shaft. In fairness, I had damn near 20 tons on it, and not much bite with the seperator. I think most any brand would have failed in this situation.

Thanks Woody 73! I've had mine for a year, and beat the snot out of them with no complaints at all.

That same can is available at Menards. I use several, mostly for ATF/ Acetone.

    Matco MB302 Side Cabinet

Thanks Zkling. That's kind of what I'm finding, that they must have been optional.

    Matco MB302 Side Cabinet

Picked up a Matco MB302 to hang off the side of my old Matco bottom box. It's not perfect by any means, but useable. Spent last night straightening tweaked door, and cleaning it out. This one only has 4 drawers, with slide channels for 3 more. The channels look absolutely new...no paint wear to...

    The C3 Addiction Thread

I've got quite a bit of C3 stuff. The big L-ion batteries have been a HUGE performance boost.

    At Last! 24" Diamond

Been looking 10+ years for one. Damn near didn't look in the bin it was in, but I'm sure glad I did. Charlie's is a great place, always stop when we're in town!

    At Last! 24" Diamond

Was visiting family in Denver, and made a run to Charlie's Secondhand Tools. Been gathering (hoarding maybe) Diamond stuff for years. Only seen a few 24" adjustable wrenches, and all with fixed jaw cracked and welded. Took home this nice, Un-welded one, and beautiful early 10" one for $48!

    Shop Shears/Scissors

I've got an older set of Fiskars snips I really like for fine work. Wise for rougher stuff. Bought a set of Goldblatt shears at Lowes that aren't worth the powder to blow them to hell. Won't cut anything...at least nothing I've tried.

    comments on used tool prices

Hit pawnshops whenever I can...some are always good, some always ****, and some are hit or miss. This may sound racist or sexist...and I certainly don't mean it to; I've developed this theory over many years, and damned if it don't hold true. If you have a choice between counter people, deal...

    Pre-WWII S-K quarter-inch socket-set

The little T handle bar is damn near always missing. Nice score! Definitely **** worthy!

    Cleaning Kennedy Brown Crinkle Paint

After I got all the bird **** and mud dauber nests off I was able to see its flecked with white paint. The brown original finish is missing in places and has some rust, but it's perfectly serviceable the way it is. Adds "patina"! Kinda bummed that the clips inside won't accommodate my favorite...
