USA Made SK Chrome Sockets. New and Old, Side by Side Comparison

New to the left, old to the right. Old as in 2008 era. Purchased new, by me. New as in 2026 era. Purchased new, by me. The outsides look the same. The chrome, the stampings, the markings. All the same. The inside is very different. Again, new to the left, old to the right.

New USA made SK chrome sockets? Any good? Same as the old?

I get that SOME of SK’s product is made in china. Not talking about that. The currently made in USA stuff is what I am talking about. Is it equal to their old USA made stuff or has it changed?

Moving on from Hansen socket trays: Part 2 - The saga continues.

I got several trays from Westling and I’m not totally content with them. The biggest problem is that the red tones don’t match each other. I’ve been in touch with the owner he suggested simply exchanging all of the red trays for another color. But to do this I have to buy a full replacement set...

Getting tired of Hansen socket organizers. Westling looks tempting. Any Westling users here?

In my opinion, Hansen socket organizers are ****. I like the idea. The pegs, the labels, etc. but the execution isn't that great. The trays warp and the pegs bust. They are very fragile. If these were aluminum or titanium than these would be great. But, they are cheap and the loss isn't much...

VIM Magrail. The best socket rail, but man are they expensive! Any viable alternative?

~$60 for a 20" rail and ~$30 for an 8" rail. A few sizes in between. That's the general range. Nobody seems to be selling these at a low price point. Everyone online sells them for about the same price. Rather costly. But they are, or at least seem to be, the undisputed best thing to happen to...

Would you call this useful or not?

Been considering one of these lately.

Battery powered lights. What are you using?

Hand held flashlights? To me they are kinda useless unless they have a magnetic base. A light must have the ability to be hands free to be useful. If you hands are ******* holding a light, what can you beyond look? Not much. Headlamps? I always use one not matter what it seems like. Which one...

    Tool carts these days

For a cart, I have never had anything other than a literal cart. A “shelf“ that is waist high and 4 wheels. Something like this. I have only ever used a cart for 1 thing: A convenient, movable place to put tools and parts that I am using at that very moment. Not tool storage. If it’s not...

Anyone done a DIY wheel alignment?

I need an alignment on my personal car and I despise bringing my car to a shop. I have seen videos of people using string and some stands and taking measurements to align the front wheels. I am considering going this route. Anyone else done this?

    Corded lights....obsolete these days?

Back in the day, that's all we had. Battery powered lights seem to be taking over. I don't see many on the trucks these days. In fact, I can't even remember the last time I saw one. I still have a couple that I prefer. Many times, in the middle of a project, the light just straight up dies on...

Extra long extensions. 24 inches and up. Do you use them?

1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 inch drive. How often do you use extensions in those drive sizes about 24 inches in length? I use the surprisingly often. Am I alone?

    Lisle.....Are you a fan?

There seem to be some heavy hitters. MAC, Cornwell and Snap on use them as a source for a variety of things. Auto Parts Stores carry a lot of their stuff. But.... I see a lot of **** too. What is your opinion? I personally have some of their broken bolt extractors and a stethoscope. That's...

Any James Hardie siding experts here?

Some guys were doing some work on my property. An excavator was being used. Somehow they lost control and put a hole in the siding. They put something there to fill the hole. Not sure what it is. I was not here and did not see any of this. All I see is the aftermath. Anyhow, this is colorplus...

    Carbide Scrapers vs Carbon Scrapers

Carbide scrapers while costly, seem to be getting popular. What do you think? Are they Not worth it? Overrated? Or are they really what they are hyped up to be? Just to make sure we are on n the same page, speaking the same language… Carbon Scrapers… Carbide Scrapers…

Anyone ever removed a toilet before?

My toilet just started leaking at the base. Time for a new wax ring. Never done this particular task before but it looks simple. So I remove the decorative caps that cover the stud and nut that hold the toilet in place. No nuts are there. What is this and how does it come apart?

Flex Head Ratchets - Which type do you prefer and why?

I have seen 3 types: -Locking -Detents -Free floating I personally have never had a locking flex head ratchet. I have a few free floating and detent style flex head ratchets. My free floating are all Snap on, my detent ratchets are MAC and Cornwell. Honestly, flex head ratchets have always...

    MAC RBRT wrenches….Are they ****?

Well, I hope not because I just bought the set. 6mm through 32mm. I didn’t need them per se, but they look fun and interesting. What are your experiences with them?

    Wrench Extenders….Anyone use one?

Saw this the other day, thought it looked cool, so I bought it. Haven’t used it yet. Thoughts? Useful? A waste? Looks just like the Cornwell version with a different handle. Pretty sure VIM supplies Cornwell with this part.

Counterfeit Snap on wrenches? Is there such a thing?

So, I have been snooping around on eBay lately looking for deals. Finally decided to go down THAT rabbit hole. I noticed some sellers have lots and lots of brand spanking new Snap on wrench sets (other stuff too) and for a price that looks pretty good. Last night I gave into temptation and...
