1940s Delta Unisaw locking wedges for wheel

I just purchased a 1945 Unisaw. The locking feature on the adjusting wheels didnt seem to work. I disassembled the saw for paint/bearings/lube etc and found the old wedge style. As the image shows, for each adjusting wheel I have the knob, spring and two wedges. Is there an additional short rod...

    weight of Seneca Falls lathe

I managed to get this lathe at a local auction for $150 and need to pick it up tomorrow. It came with a lot of tooling which I figured was worth the cost alone. It is a Seneca Falls lathe. Does anyone has an idea on what this thing weighs? Trying to work out how I will lift it and whether I...

    Trying to ID Bridgeport mill

Might be buying a nee toy and was wondering whether anyone had experience with Bridgeport mills and could ID this one. I have been looking at some videos on YT relating to indexing the head for shipping but the head on this one looks a little different to those in the vids. I have included a...

Do I need acid etch if I fully ground the floor?

So I spent a WEEK grinding a 1000 sq/ft workshop and am about to start applying epoxy coat. They supplied an acid etch which I assume is to produce a substrate good for adhesion...however, surely the concrete grinding did that? If I fully ground the floor do i still need the acid etch?

I went cheap and regret it. Trying to go over new 1-part epoxy

Last fall I put Epoxy Coat down in our 2-car garage. It was supposed to be a trial run for the workshop which is 28*36. Being an idiot and despite the Epoxy Coat working out fine, I decided to go cheap and grab a 1-part Behr epoxy for the workshop from Home Depot. I did it in three thirds, at...

results after insulating my 28*36 pole building

Early days yet as the place was only drywalled and insulated in the last 48 hours, however... Prior to this, with bare framing, it would take maybe 2 or more hours for my little heater to get the place (which has 14' 6" walls) up to the mid 60s from about 30 degrees. It would go through an...

    lighting a 2-post lift

Over the moon with my lift but I do find things a little dark under the car. Been scratching my head and perusing threads here and am considering getting one of these...

to drywall or not to drywall, that is the question....

So I am due to have the walls on my 28*36 (14' walls) covered in the next few weeks. The plan is/was to put up mold resistant drywall. Had a couple of friends over this past week and when I mentioned that plan each of them shook their head and suggested plywood. MUCH more knock resistant and...

    diagram for permit

Might sound to be a silly request but I am looking for some guidance on putting together a simple diagram for the purposes of getting a county permit for electrical. just 110v outlets, lights, switches and a single 220v outlet. According to those I have spoken to locally, nothing formal or...

Concrete - at what point is a crack NOT acceptable?

My slab has been down about 2-3 months now and I have 6-8 cracks. I am not freaking out as I know most concrete pads WILL crack but at what point is a crack NOT something I need to live with. See the photos of one crack at the front of the structure. To me this looks worse than I should expect...

    AttiCat insulation and drywall

I am looking to insulate the walls of my nice new 28*36 (14' walls) with spray in AttiCat from HD. Comparing the prices of this to companies that come out and spray in foam and the difference is shocking. I am not trying to get THE best results, simply something that allows me to keep a...

    Atlas OH9000 installation question(s)

OK, so with my shiny car lift unpackaged I decided to do a parts check and do some initial construction. To say the instructions are bad is something of an understatement. I actually seriously considered ringing Greg Smith to ask if they needed me to put something together as I went, they are...

    28*36 pole building in WV

After asking several questions throughout the build I thought I should show the 'final' product. I say final although as you can see there is still much work to do. I will be getting the car lift installed in the next month or two and insulation/drywall. The retainer wall down the side of the...

    curing concrete / car lift

So, I laid a six inch concrete slab four weeks ago and 90% of it has dried to the point it is now an off-white. There are still some small patches of dark grey etc which I suspect to be places where it is still moist or uncured? Anyway, I picked up my Atlas OH9000 last week and have it sitting...

Fresh slab, do I need to wait until spring?

Hey all. I have been lurking on the site for a week or so now after having just constructed my nice new 28*36 workshop. With the shop up and now ready for power, lighting, floor covering I quickly realized I needed a place to research these items. Lighting and power seem straight forward...
