    9*19 lathe capability?

Saw a shopfox 1059 9*19 lathe on FB marketplace. Looks like the generic lathe sold by a bunch of brands jet enco etc as 9*19 or 10*20. I am having a hard time judging what it is capable of as it's bigger then the usual mini lathes but still small. Can it do steel at all really? Painfully...

Backhoe vs miniex for roads, sitework.

Just bought 100 acre woodlot. Needs roadwork graveling and eventually house and shop. This is not good dozer road country too many glacial random rocks. Perfer a miniex but that would be painfully slow for gravel bank work. Some older 2wd backhoes around for maybe 10k or miniexs, 4x4 hoes...

My driveway is old and needs to be replaced at some point as it's a bit above slab at this point, and in late winter as the ice melts is runs into the garage. critique my truss replacement plan

Note I said replace. Built by a company that went out of business 7 years ago, so no staff engineers to hire to tell me the original design specs on spreading load held back by the floor portion. (if there is any, I am not sure there is as the floor truss meets standard floor truss sizing for...

Two post lift with platform as attic elevator?

Anyone every used a lift for attic access? I have a 36x22 or so garage attic that would make a great woodshop expect its 12 feet in the air... Looking at standard floor truss tables it appears to have a 50lbs per foot or greater live load rating which should be plenty as long as I dont get...

code for landings on exterior stairs?

I have been trying to figure out if a landing is required for a secondary entrance stair. I can find various references that seem to indicate if the door opens inward it is not.
