    Identification of Arbor Press

Hopefully the sight of this press generates some additional information... I've looked pretty deep into the interwebs and found nothing on it. I've pictured some "landmark" details that may ID a Manufacturer. I have some damage that I'd like to contrast with how it use to be...hopefully I can...

Need a GJ assist yall. While I do have a diagram to follow and the basic skills to do it safely...some aspects of my switch are not the same. So I'm hoping that a few may give me a second opinion on my assumptions. First. Need to confirm that my MAG "CAN" have it's coil terminals on the side...

    JET HBS-9M Commercial Bandsaw Refurb

The recent addition to Hounddog's Workshop. As found. I've been lacking in the metal cutting department for some time and jumped at the opportunity to pick this up. It's previous employer was the USAF so I'm going to take a leap that it's got many years of service remaining. My plan is to do...

Dreis and Krump Chicago Pan and Box Break Refurb.

Hey all...it's been busy in the workshop. I'm nearing the 3rd. quarter mark on a big project that I'd like to share. In order to keep this manageable I'll cover it in installments. So for the past 12 years I've been driving by a local metal recycler business, for the life of me I don't know why...

    Tile Leveling Systems

I thought I'd share a product I'm using now. It's called the Raimondi Leveling System (RLS).... helps keep the tiles all flat and lined up when laying. The company has a good RLS tutorial that will also get you acquainted with their product. First, a few disclaimers. I had a tile guy do my...

Show us your cool "old" wheel chocks

Yes....you heard right....a thread dedicated to one of the most overlooked, unappreciated, and unspoken shop tools. Enough of that...trying to be funny. Found these at a yard sale. Debating on clean-up and restoration...however those raised letters need some paint to pop!!! Since there's and...

    "think"

I dropped by a local estate sale the other day while on my way to work. Ended up, the estate was that of an old Chief Master Sergeant, long since retired. As I meandered the property it became apparent and later confirmed (via neighbors and friends) that he was deemed the neighborhoods Mr...

DeWalt Porta-Band and SWAG Off-road Base

I recently saw a GJ member with one of these tables... and without a dedicated bandsaw I decided that I needed it. Came in today...had to get out there in the shop and see what I could do with it. While I could have kept it a table top piece of equipment this old metal table base needed...

    Vice nuts Help me decide

So I refurbished this Columbian a few months ago...It's condition is very good. Today an acquaintance offered to trade me his grandfathers vise (I could never do it) for my refurbed Columbian. The Reed is too big for him he says. It turns smooth and is in pretty good shape... unsure if the jaws...

What the heck is this thing???

Unsure if the top picture shows it well enough but there are two round eyelets of sorts on the top of the rounded unit. There is a cotter type pin that attached s to one of the eyelets and that pin holds in place that section in picture 2 that I have in my hand. Also, that item is a solid pine...

Just in time weld table from CL

My CL find just in time to be fitted with a restored vise I'm working on. My immediate plan is to strip it or blast it, Prime/paint, install vise, and castors. It has 1/4 thick steel top and that long shallow top drawer will be very nice to keep the table top clear of mess.

    Air-compressor sound dampeners/anti-vibration: Shop made!

Here's my today rainey day project. Just picked up a used 1996 (new-ish) 80 gal. Campbell Hausefield, 5 hp. compressor. Been spruceing it up all weekend. Cleaning, new filter, some adjustments here and there, and some layout of the shop air system. Was hoping to find some nice AND affordable...

Maintaining air flow above/over closed cell application

For consideration... I am nearing the insulation choice for my new shop addition. Here's what it looks like. A low pitch roof covers my new space but I have to keep the airflow going up to the second story attic to the ridge vent. In the past I've used that egg crate between the rafter bay then...
