Does bacteria grow in the "Bypassed" side of a pipe?

I'm getting ready to do some filter/plumbing upgrades on the RV and it made me think about bacteria growth in pipes that are not on the typical path. Specifically this spot right here...

Asphalt contractor created new drainage problem

Half my driveway is paved and while it does grade away from the house it also grades back from the street to towards the back of my driveway... It used to create a huge puddle. That was before. I just had a contractor come that said he could pave the gravel part of my driveway and for 24%...

Run a 60 amp circuit or 90 amp subpanel

Getting my first EV and need to install a 50 amp charger in the (attached) garage. I currently have a 200 amp 42 space main panel and a 6 space subpanel in my basement that are full. To add a 2 space 60 amp circuit I'd have to replace the existing subpanel in the basement for a larger one. And...

    Coating a sande plywood floor

My garage was built on a very uneven/slanted slab that was repurposed from the original tractor shed that was here before... So I built a 10ft by 24ft section used for woodworking. I just got done with the floor and I'm considering if I should coat it with something or just leave it bare. I...

    10 psf bcdl

I'm a little Confused about truss load capacities. My plans say I have a bcdl of 10PSF but 0 LL. Drywall from my understanding is 2PSF. Does this mean I have 8PSF worth of weight I can store up in the attic or can I hang heavier things from the trusses?

    Fascia outside corners not wrapped.

Yet again it seems I've been let down by the quality of a contractor... This winter I hired a company to do the siding and aluminum fascia because it was about to start snowing and I didnt have a month to do it myself... Today, crazy enough, I noticed I had a birds nest in one of the bird boxes...

    Wrong LPG pipe size installed

Hi guys, So I had a 500 gallon LPG installed the other day for a 22kw Generator and I was going over the startup procedures in the manual and came across a chart that basically said I need a 1" gas pipe. Well they installed a 3/4" pipe. Apparently this isnt going to cut it for how much BTUs to...

Garage door track hand from single truss

The guy installing my garage door said "I don't know" when I asked if putting the garage door on a single truss was an issue. The door weighs 200lbs. Ive been worried about hanging things from the truss because of some articles I've read here. My bottom chord is rated for 10lbs / sfqt dead load.

    Vinyl siding install costs

I got a quote from someone to do the aluminum trim work around the garage I'm building and he also gave me a quote to do the siding as well. I think he inflated the costs of the trim just so he can get a shot at doing the siding because he wanted $2500 for just the trim. (Fascia/door caps, etc.)...

    Best type of splice

I used the ultratugger to pull an amazing amount of cables through a 2 1/2" conduit to the inside of my basement. That's where I stopped though. I didn't have any ability to not destroy the cables that went into the LB so I decided it's time to just run a separate line inside and use...

extra long L2 for LB conduit body

I had an electrician stop by today to take a look at "The Great Wire Pull of 2020" and he advised I should get an extra long LB instead of the standard size one I have. Only problem is I can't seem to find out where to find this mysterious extra long conduit body. All the ones I've seen are...

Do I need a larger cable puller or?

I rented this 3000# cable puller from my local electrical distributor. Well, After pulling my 3/4" 26000lb breaking strength rope and the 12 wires behind it. I'm at a loss. It started smoking last night I let it sit overnight to cool off. Now it trips breakers like it was made to do that. Sooo...

Framer used a scrap piece of concrete form for building

Sooo I just noticed that the garage door jamb was gray. with closer inspection it looks the framer used a scrap piece of 2x that was used to create the concrete forms for my slab extension. Is this going to cause problems with one side basically coated with concrete or is it going to be fine...

j box right on the vapor barrier?

I wrapped the garage yesterday and now I want to install the box. It's in the back so nobody will ever see it. I've read that people buy the meter mounting plates for vinyl siding but I can't find one big enough in stock anywhere. Can I just mount it right to the vapor barrier? Or should I cut...

    Moving a generator slab?

So long story short. I accidentally poured a slab for my generator @ 6inches from what became the exterior wall of my garage. I need to move it over a foot. I tried using a large post hole digger metal pole and the pole started bending. Any other ideas?

    Pretty basic Man door question.

So this feels like a dumb question that I should know how to resolve but I'm not sure how I want to fix it... My 36x80" door has a rough opening of 83"H. I'm putting this directly on the concrete slab. With the brick moulding and the frame I still have a gap of about 1"... How should I resolve...

Thoughts on conduit height when foundation low

I have this 2 1/2" conduit LB that I need to setup to get into my basement. The siding starts where the concrete ends. As you can see from the picture If I use the LB thats made for this then the penetration will be too high. A few questions: Can I forgo expansion pipe and just put the LB onto...
