    Pegboard pics

Any chance some of you folks can post pics of your tools hanging from pegboard? I'm especially curious to see grinders, air tools and your larger, heavier stuff. THANKS!

    Tire storage or rack

I'm looking for ideas on storing as many as eight tire/wheels on a wall, overhead. Preferably this would be a wood vs metal project. Any ideas? Thanks all.

    Locking the barn door?

So the frame is built, I have it covered and now I'm trying to secure it. I have two 8' x 10' doors on a 32' track. I want to lock it from the outside, so I'm planning on using a hasp type of device. How can I lock it from moving from side to side though? I can lock both doors together, but...

    Barn door cover

I'm looking for ideas on covering the exterior of the barn/carriage doors I'm making. I will trim these to have the "x" patterns. I want something lightweight to cover the 2 x 2 frame. T1-11? Some kind of metal siding? Thoughts please.

    Barn light source ?

anyone know a good source of the gooseneck type lights used on the exterior of barns? I've found some, but each fixture is $200 or so shipped. I am hoping to do better. THANKS! Mike

    Two post lift electric ?

I have a nice vaulted ceiling for my new shop and hate the idea of running the power 20 feet up to the ceiling. Anyone run it under the center plate of the lift or have any other suggestions? Thanks! Mike

    Barn Door In or Out?

My 35 x 70 garage project has made a ton of progress the past few weeks and this week is exterior siding and trim time. I have another question about my doors for my 10' x 16' door opening. I am planning to build two carriage or barn type sliding 8 x 10 doors. Most of the barn doors I see...

    Carriage door weight?

I'm planning on building two 8 x 10 slider barn type doors to fill my 10 x 16 doorway. Someone told me the doors would be REALLY heavy and hard to open and close. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? I plan on framing the doors out of 2 x 6's, etc. Thanks! Mike

    Carriage door track

I'm getting ready to pour the concrete on my 35 x 70 garage tomorrow and the contractor asked me a question I'm stuck on. I plan on having carriage doors made for the end (35' side) that are 10' x 16'. My garage will look very much like a barn in trim and architecture. The cement guy wants to...

    Window AC units

Is there a standard size for these and standard electrical requirements? I need to tell the architect as he seems clueless on these systems. I need to know what size hole to frame in. I'm planning on using two. One for my shop and one for a room over the garage. Thanks all.

My Old/current garage and party room

This is the one I have now that I have to sell because of my now -ex... The new one will be better. What you don't see is the cantilevered steps I put in after these pictures were taken. I'll try to update that someday.

    Window units vs heat pump

I'm considering using a 24,000 BTU window unit instead of a heat pump in my shop. It would seem to be much more affordable, both to buy and to run afterward. The amp draw is much lower, the shop would be heavily insulated, around 1,200 sf and only run on weekends when I'm wrenching. Thoughts...

New and Improved Taj ma garage

I'm looking to start my new 35 x 70 garage at my new house in early January. It will function as a garage for the house, a shop to work on my cars with a ton of storage up above. It needs to match a vermont type farmhouse, hence the hardyplank exterior. Here are the plans. Any suggestions...

Air line Q- No doubt a repeat, but please?

I'm planning to run 3/4" copper in my new garage to give me multiple air connections in the garage. Can/should I run it through the concrete or in the walls? I'll run mostly air tools like sanders, die grinders and things like that if it matters. Does putting it in the concrete give me more...

    Repair epoxied floors for fabricators

I built my mega garage a few years ago back, then started building hot rods in it. I've welded, ground and sanded and trashed the pretty floors I once had. How can I refinish them and what should I put on the floors when I build my new and improved car barn this winter? Thanks!

    Dust collection

I wondered if anyone had suggestions for something that could be used to **** dust, etc generated from sanding cars in the garage. The stuff gets everywhere and I've got to believe something exists to help. I'm picturing some kind of dust filtration that can draw from the entire room. Thanks.

    My garage and party room

I have a couple old Mustangs always in some state or teardown and rebuild. I spent a year planning this garage. I ran copper air lines with multiple air outlets. Tons or electric outlets too. I built storage above the garage and the motor driven cantilevered, foldway stairs I built are kinds...
